Conditions being what they are, sales/stock being what they are, price variations being what they are, it seemed a good idea to get an Availability/Pricing thread up and running where we could post something found in stock or some good pricing.

This is mainly for the .223/5.56 although the 15-22 can certainly be mentioned even though it is somewhat available at decent pricing.

Yes...Im looking and Yes...Im waiting patiently:D

Best price for a Sport II currently is $549 + $16 shipping from Whittakers. They are sold out right now but are getting rifles in all the time.

Whittakes and KY Gun Co were selling the same rifle for $499 before Orlando. The prices at these low cost retailers when as high as $599 but have dropped in the past few weeks.

Personally I believe they will drop back down to $500 before the election. If you "need" a Sport II now I think getting OTD under $600 is fair but IMHO there are better values out there than the $600 Sport II unless you love the configuration. If you are going to rip the A2 front post out, replace the handguards & the stock right away there are better ways to go like the Aero stripped rifle at Brownells and any number of rifle kits at PSA.

All good information, thanks.

Yes, Ive been kicking myself ever since missing that 499 sale:rolleyes: although Whittakers is almost as good a deal. They are popping in and out of stock sooooo fast they are hard to catch for sure.

Considering the 80% route;)

....but kits at Palmetto are also getting scarce!

I personally would take this over the Sport II but I understand the Sport IIs appeal, lifetime warranty and a factory build. This is the S&W forum after all. There is a lot of value in the gun. I recommend it if you like the setup, or have the ability to change it without added expense, all the time. Most people will not ask it to do anything it is not capable of.

I think the sweet spot for the Sport II pricing wise is $499 to $599 depending on your local market. Anyone who is looking for one should ask their local dealer what they can get it for and then ask how much they do transfer for. A good cheap transfer dealer is a gun buyers best friend IMHO. Transfer should be $10 -$20 IMHO so if you a looking online factor that in against our local FFL.

I am not a 80% fan but if you want to go that route cool. Palmetto is always spotty. Currently they have a decent M4 clone instock. for $459 + shipping and transfer. All you need is a stripped lower which can be had for as low as $50 -$75.

PSA 16" Midlength 5.56 NATO 1:7 Phosphate MOE Freedom Rifle Kit - 7779431

As I said my other go to choice these days is the Aero OEMrifle at Brownells. OEM MID-LENGTH 16" RIFLE | Brownells

Could have gotten one the other day for $559 - $40 +/- shipped free. Add a FF rail, BUIS and stock of choice and you have a great factory built 1/7 twist, mid length gas, test chrome lined bolt etc.... No parts for the parts box. ;)

I called Whittakers last Friday and they were out of stock...They said more should be on the way... Called back on Tuesday and they said they had received 25 of the M&P 15 Sport II and that 10 were already sold... I got my order in and mine should be here tomorrow.. Price was $549.95 plus $12.95 S/H.
I had resisted the temptation to by a "black rifle" for a long time, but with society the way it is today, I changed my way of thinking.. I don't want to be the only one at a gunfight with a knife...

I bought mine from Gander Mountain 2 weeks ago (their price was $699) and had them match Whitaker's $549 a week later using their 30 day price guarantee. Gander currently has the Sport II "on sale" this week at $649. I used the Gander Mountain CC to get an extra $10 off and a $60 rewards card back to buy some ammo :-)

Cabela's was $599 two weeks ago, now bumped to $699.

Question....whats the skinny on the 60 buck reward card? In store promotion? Part of the credit card deal?

It is a special they are still running.

Exclusive Gander Mountain Credit Card & Mastercard Rewards | Gander Mountain

You received $10 off your first purchase and a $60 reward certificate back once you made two purchases. One inside GM for $500 and over and the other outside for any amount. You also get 3 points per $1 spent inside the store and a point per buck outside so in the end I had $80 in rewards total PLUS I got the initial $10 off to start. It only took 2 weeks to get the reward posted so last night I went in and had them match Palmetto State's $32 a box price on AE .223 100 rd boxes. They grumbled but eventually matched it since I bought $800 worth of stuff that first day.

Bottom line I guess yes I did get the II for about $459 and tax.

PS...the kid at GM told me yesterday that Rural King was running the II's right now for $519. I haven't verified it but if you have one near you, your patience may pay off.

Nope, thats your part of the country. Tractor supply here.

I just noticed your next door to KyGunCo........niiiice;)

I like the GM deal. Makes me wanna go to Houston and see the grandbabies:D

Not sure where KyGunCo is but I am 60 miles from Whitakers :-)

I was just in Virginia on vacation and considered swinging through there on the way back home.

I dont know the addy but its in Paducah.;)

I Googled it, it's in Bardstown (Central KY about 3 hrs away). Now there is Grand River's Antiques 15 min away and he is a smaller gun shop with excellent prices. Everything $35 over cost.

Made it to the big city today. Fully intended to buy, at the right price. Cabelas had plenty of M&P15's in stock if you wanted to pay 699:eek: Price match was local within 100 miles...no internet.

Gander mountain has theirs on sale for 674 then 70 total off with thier new CC deal. Then with tax your still out 655 or so. Price match does NOT include firearms

Im waiting on Whittakers;)

Apparently Matt pulled off a real coup!!! Proud of ya!:p
