I have notification requests in with all the suppliers who will take them for notice when primers are back in stock. Midway just sent me a notice that Winchester small pistol primers are being discontinued.

5 minutes prior to that I got the same notice for Federal small pistol primers.

That is like being told in 1955 that Ford and Chevy were no longer selling cars.

I believe Vista Outdoors owns Federal, CCI, Speer and Remington. What the heck is going on out there?

Anyone else get such a notice?
 
I took it as they're no longer going to sell them in a 5000 pack. Probably just 1000 pack until things settle down.

I just scored a 1000 of CCI SP from Midway yesterday. I was down to my last 500 & was going to switch to SP magnum, which I still have around 700 of.

With current prices, I've been single staging 9mm.:eek:

Yeah probably just a SKU issue, not that they aren't selling them anymore.

Then why do I have notifications setup, I never got an email, and I’m out!

Edit: Just went to their site, I see they’re all listed at $75 a brick now.

Nope, not from Midway, or anyone else I signed up to.

And the unavailable primer stock is priced at $75/1K. Wow...... in years to come, that may look like a bargain, but now it’s just ....WOW! :eek:

Yep, and after Hazmat & shipping, it's a $100 to the door.
 
Yep, crazy prices. 1000 count box I’m using priced at $39.95. Last show saw them for $70/ 1000. Been casting and sizing for 3 days.
 
I suspect that when the REST of the world goes back to the new normal, primers from overseas will show up in quantity, and bring the prices down. No idea what that number will be. But if domestic stuff is selling for say $50 a thousand, then overseas primers being sold locally there at $30 for 5K will be imported here by the container load. Lots of countries have domestic and export production and if the market is there, then THEY will ramp up production.

Unless certain politicians favor restricting imports of arms, ammunition, and components. Could happen.

Yeah - Larry at Midway “thanks you for your business” regardless of how much he marks up reloading supplies in times like this. Seriously, these big distributors are not paying much more now then they did before this mess started - just hosing their customers. I got lucky last week at local SW and got 1,000 CCI LR for $24.

How much is Midway paying for primers? I’d bet you don’t know that.

We are creating the shortages and the increased prices, not the distributors.
 
SRP’s are $125-135 a brick here - all of my range 9mils (CZ’s, Glock and SIG 2022) will light them just fine. Just bought LPP’s @ $5/100 - probably because other .45 components are so expensive so no one is shooting it. I am picking up some 1XF .45 brass and I am on the waiting list for Berry’s bullets, my range sessions are switching over to .45. Even better, a kind gentleman here just sold me his .45 ACP revolver. Now, if I could just find a non-plastic 10mm ... :(

SNSCasting still had lead 200gr RNFP in stock today for under $.10 plus shipping and tax.

I've gotten 2 from Midway, and both times they were all gone by the time I logged in. The first one was 7 minutes after getting the notification.

I'm rich! 7 or 8 thousand small and large pistol primers still in the reloading stash! Just makes me sick to think about all that money I put into real estate, growth stock mutual funds, and vintage Smith & Wessons over the decades.

Maybe in a month or two I will be able to trade for a tank of unleaded gasoline, or a package of T-bones.

I would buy a few at $60 a brick if it was in-store and no shipping/hazmat. Just to get me through this fall.
 
Looks like there a lot still for sale around here for $200/brick and those that show up at $150/brick sell pretty fast just now. Small pistol are still the most sought after, followed by small rifle. The large rifle are the only ones that linger for any length of time. Other components are still high and scarce but not really that bad. I imagine the scarcity of primers is what's holding the price of powder and bullets down. Reloading gear was crazy for a month or so but that too has caught up as new loaders realize there isn't much point in tooling up if you can't get primers.
 
Visited local reloading store last week. Was able to purchase 100 primers at $ 4.90 only 1 per customer and you must spend $10.00+ on something else. 250 pc CMJ 158 gr FPRN .38 spec is $ 32.95 a few months back I paid him $ 22.95 for the same. Very little inventory of powder and no Bullseye or other popular powders. Fortunately I have at least 1,000+ rds already made, if I take it easy I can survive until this drought is over
