Many people prefer the good old blued guns to stainless. Consequently there is more demand. Therefore they command a higher price. The invisible hand of the marketplace at work.

Blue is beautiful. That's all I buy anymore. I own way more blue than stainless guns. Like the two before me stated, supply vs. demand.

Blue and wood is good! I would buy a nickel, before SS. If given a choice. I guess I am a traditionalist. Oh and price and notice is with a C. Sorry I am not that great of a speller either.

Stainless steel may be more expensive metal, but that isn't the total cost of the gun. Blue guns take more surface preparations, polishing to ensure the blue finish is flawless. I believe you'll see a significantly higher labor content in the blue guns. Of course all the other comments are correct, more folks want the older blue guns so the value is reflected as well.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when I am holding my good, old, 6-1/2 inch Model 29-2 with it's deep, high-polish blue finish and cool Coke grips, beauty is then IN THE HAND of the beholder!

Ya, but he did 'Smoke' a few with a "Stainless Steel" .44 Automag before he got done with being Harry!!!
