Bought a used M&P Pro (5"), & when I change mags the slide will close every time without me having to use the slide release.
Is this normal or what. Gun was like new low round count uner 200 rounds.
The reason I ask My 2 compacts dont do this I have to use the slide release .
The man I bought it from is a "if it's not broke I am gong to fix it anyway type"

Thanks for the help

pretty common with the 5" pro's. it ahs a lot to do with the angle and amount of force you do your reloads and the extra mass of the 5" slide.

Put it in gently and it won't do that. Slam it in and it will do it every time. So what's your problem? Competitors think that is a great feature.

I do too - but I wan't it to do it all the time -if its a normal thing it will.

I have another brand of gun I shoot and it does not do it everytime which is not an ideal thing .

The pickey bunch I shoot with (only if your winning) are saying it's been altered so this gives me an answer.

Thanks for the info .

Glock people don't like us for this.

They know darn well its normal for the Pro.

Another vote for it's normal. I like the fact that it does this since I only use it for competitive shooting.

My 5" Pro does this when I slam the mag in, and I consider it to be an advantage when shooting IDPA.

Ha! That's an understatement.

I've been shooting USPSA with my Pro. I've basically untrained myself on how to release the slide because I don't have to.

Then I shot my SR9c in IDPA and the first time I ran it empty and put in a new mag, I forgot that I had to release the slide manually. Cost me a bunch of time.

My 5 inch Pro 9mm doesn't do it as far as I can tell. I shoot USPSA production and plan the mag changes so as not to need to release the slide lock. And lose time when I have to push the slide lock.

Yours is broken! :D
