I am itching for another low-capacity sidearm of antique design that shoots the 45ACP cartridge. The Smith Pro Series 1911 has been at the top of my list but now I am considering upping the bar to, say, a Springfield TRP or Trophy. Just wondering if anybody has experience with either or both of these guns. I just wonder if the added money would be well spent.

I have shot the Pro Series which handled very nicely.
The trigger was to my liking. No experience with the TRP.

I am a huge TRP fan. It's a great 1911, but you will pay for it. Some of the S&W are less $$ for a similar gun

The TRP is the superior gun, and the price reflects it.

Check out Fusion Firearms, you can get a Semi-Custom 1911 for the same or less as a TRP. The guy running it is responsible for all the good things Dan Wesson's done with their 1911's. JMO.

The S&W is American made, the Springfield Armory TRP is assembled in IL from Brazilian parts. Personally, & it's only my opinion, I don't want to send money to Brazil, when Americans need jobs. Just my two cents.

Fusion's site is intimidating and the costs appear to be is over my ceiling. As for American made vs elsewhere, I guess I have supported Smith pretty well: 3 1911s & 4 wheel guns.

TRP............. Trophy match is nice but not in same league.

You own 3 Smith 1911s? Let me know how they stack up to the TRP.

Night and Day.
