Problem free Bodyguard 380 ???

So far so good....
Took my BG 380 (EAA93##) through 50 rounds of ball-ammo. The trigger always reset and take-down lever is still in position (keeping my fingers crossed). I had two miss-fires (both fired after being reloaded into the magazine). At 15meters, I had to aim a little above the target to make the desired shot.

100 rnds not a problem---waiting on internet g.sabers to arrive then back again----really like the gun! sights and laser perfect right out of the box. all decent groups. gonna pick up some snap-caps t'nite, try to get the trigger right b4 next shoot. serial # is eaB then low numbers. wondering if that "b" has anything to do with s&w's maybe fix of the mentioned problems?

200 rounds now and not a problem--tweaked the laser just a bit---lots of snap cap work before this latest range shoot, mostly shoot a1911 and this trigger was, in the beginning, a little hard to get used too, really like it now--serial number is eab0##--take-down lever has a nice snap to it, solid. no problems so far what-so-ever.

My Bodyguard as I stated in an earlier post was troublefree thru 600 rounds. Then on my next range outing with friends who wanted to shoot it, it came apart. I couldn't believe it, the slide just flew off the receiver and the takedown pin was nowhere to be found. What is really disheartening was that after 400 troublefree rounds thru it I started carrying it. I'm just glad it came apart on the range and not on the street. This is the first pistol that has ever come apart while firing and while I'm sure S&W will fix it, I've lost confidence in it. It's back at the factory now and we'll see if they repair or replace it.
My Bodyguard 38 on the other hand has been a rock solid performer just surpassing the 1000 round mark. From talking to some knowledgeable people the problem has been with EAA first run pistols. Supposedly the EAB numbered pistols have already been upgraded. My advice to those with EAA numbers is to watch the takedown levers carefully.

But remember, my frame was replace with an EAA frame and is still working great.

Called the factory today and was told they're replacing my pistol.

Unfortunetly I too had to send mine back to S&W but for a totally different reason from everyone else. I was dry-firing mine with snap caps and on one of my dry fire sessions, small piece of metal came off. From troubleshooting it, it looks to be the back of the firing pin where the hammer hits. The piece is only about 1/4 of an inch long. I called S&W and they mailed me a FEDEX label and told me to box it up and place the FEDEX label on it. I did that on Wednesday 10/13/2010 so we will see what happens. I still like the gun and plan on keeping it. God Bless :)

Vbvaguy,

Sorry to hear that you've run into this problem, although it's not the first report of this particular defect. I had the same thing happen to my BG380 fresh out of the box. See the link below for my record of the problem and the outcome.

I finally got my BG380 out again today(Been having too much fun with my M&P15-22 lately)and shot another 150 rounds through it.That makes 600.So far,no problems.I concentrated on using the laser sight today and was surprised how accurate it was at 15,30,and 60 feet.Hopefully the back order of extra magazines will be over soon.

Went out to the range over the weekend and put another 100 rounds thru my BG380, up to about 450 now. Not a single problem. Really fun to shoot. I was goruping in a 12 inch circle at 40 feet. Not bad for a small cc gun, I don't think!

Got a call from the factory today saying my new BG 380 was on it's way to the dealer. Had a talk with the gentleman that called about the Bodyguards' problems and he stated it is a small percentage of guns having problems. I told him I felt comfortable carrying mine after 400 troublefree rounds and didn't have it come apart until just over 600 rounds. He said they were aware of the problems and assured me the new redesigned frames addressed them. I hope so.

Mine is also on the way with new frame EAB77&& after being there for 4 weeks and 2 days. Should be at the FFL tomorrow. Can't wait to get it back since I only had it in my hands one day after purchase :(.

50 rounds FMJ through mine, frame EAB4xxx. Good so far. It was too bright to use the laser but I still got a nice group rapid-fire @ 7yds.

Slide lock pin is still a bit hinky to remove and reinsert, and it took me a bit to find out that I have to hold the trigger depressed until the slide is on all the way (I swear the manual does not say that).

I found a nice, inexpensive DeSantis pocket holster. Simple, effective, clean. I really am starting to like DeSantis. I just got a SOB for my 40c and the leather and fit is awesome. I would like to hear about a pancake for it, tho'. Is Dan Cory ready to do one? I like the idea of snap loops on a holster.

Called S&W on Monday-advised they were going to replace the frame. Just got a notice from FedEx my .380 will be delivered tomorrow. Will report on 1st range trip.

Check out the new bg380 pancake holster that mccabe's custom leather is making. Just google it.

Almost bought this today, but decided to do a little reading first...........and now I'm not sure if I should get it. Obviously, it's good the mfr stands behind the product, but like some of the other posts have stated, would sure hate to have the/a failure at the "wrong" time! I didn't notice the serial number, but will check that out and see if it's from a much later production run.
