Problem free Bodyguard 380 ???

I bought one on Friday the day after turkey day also, and I'm very pleased with it. 50 rounds today with no problems, but the best part is the accuracy. I am much more accurate with this little pocket pistol than any of my J Frames.

another BG 380

My wife saw my new BG 380 and wanted it instead of the sig p238 I bought for her, what could I do but let her have it.Its my duty to look after her so I bought me another BG380 ,now we are both happy campers. Love the BG 380

I just fired 150 rounds through my new BG 380 ser # EAF1XXX, I'm having mixed emotions. The weapon was accurate both iron sights and laser right out of the box. The gun feels good even in my large mitts. The bad things; I had 1 Fail to Eject (Browning FMJ factory load) and 4 Failure to Load, (1 Browning and 3 Remington FMJ factory load). The FTLs happened because the slide locked open after the ejection of the casing as if the mechanism felt no more ammo in the magazine. Anyone have any ideas? I'm disappointed but will continue to fire some more dollars through the barrel in the hopes of wearing off a burr somewhere. Otherwise, back to S&W. I only have one magazine so I can't isolate that from the problem, maybe Smith will send me another one. I don't mind paying for it but I don't want to wait two months for it either. Anyone near St. Petersburg that wants to shoot at an indoor range, then I could isolate the mag problem.

Hello Everyone... I purchased a BG380 Serial EAA3XXX about 2 months ago and went straight to the range with it, about 65 rounds later the trigger failed to return and unfortunately had to return it to S&W. 2 weeks later I received it back from them with 2 magazines (i guess thats there way of making up for the trouble since i only had my gun for 30 mins before it malfunctioned) since then i have shot about 200 rounds through it and have had no issues at all with the trigger however the laser and take down pin are another story...the laser was already replaced once since it was extremely hard to cycle on and off and the replacement wasnt much better hwoever i took a shot with the ball point pen mod and that seems to have corrected that problem...however on another note the take down pin has fallen out about 3 times while at the range...being a novice gun owner and a clean freak i figured i was over-oiling the gun after each cleaning so didnt think much of it and just started using a q-tip with oil rather then dropping the oil directly on the gun... however yesterday i was at the range and after firing 10 rounds the take down pin flew off again and the slide, barrel, & Spring flew right off the gun and into the range with a live round still in the Barrell :( wasnt very happy about that... regardless, after the range attendant managed to find all the pieces to the gun i called customer support and they emailed me a FedEx mailing slip and it was picked up today... according to the gentleman whom i spoke to at customer service he assured me that they would correct the problem and do everything in their power to ensure that i was happy however after having 3 different problems with the gun i hope they will either replace it with a newer run model that has all these issues addressed since it is my CC gun or refund my money... I truly love the feel of the gun, i love its accuracy and it is very easy to conceal ( I am in the real estate biz and dress in slacks and tucked in shirts all the time so its hard for me to conceal) but i no longer feel confident with the one i sent back so i guess well see what they decide to do for me...for now i guess i will have to carry my Ruger SR9c... i will def post back once i hear back from S&W.

I have a serial number that's pretty close to yours (EAA19##). If my very recent experience is any indicator, what you're likely to get back is your same frame (which is inside the plastic housing), a new takedown pin, and possibly one or two other new parts. With mine, I received a new takedown pin, a new plastic housing, and a new slide, but I think the latter two (the housing and the slide) were replaced because I requested it, not because it was necessary to fix the problem. You're likely to find that getting the new takedown pin out of the frame is a real bear. But, try rotating it a full 180 degrees counter clockwise, instead of 90 degrees counterclockwise, and it should come right out.

I've been back to the range once since this last trip to S&W, and I had no problems through 200 rounds. Once I get another 200 rounds downrange (hopefully tomorrow), I'll feel more confident about the pistol.

I hear ya.. however, the customer service rep told me to include a letter explaining what had happened and what i would like them to do about it since over the phone i politely expressed a lot of concerns with carrying this gun, since it has had nothing but issues since day 1...

At the moment I honestly don't feel confident that should i be in a life or death situation that it would perform correctly / flawlessly god forbid i ever have to draw it and truthfully i hope i never have to find out...lol so of course he suggested that including a letter would certainly help get my point across and get what i wanted...so i included a thorough letter where i explained the issue and requested that they either replace the gun with a newer latter production run where these issues have been corrected or simply refund my money... so i guess once i hear back from them ill let ya know if the letter worked... :D

I'm pleased to hear that people are enjoying this weapon so much. I've been looking for one and am ready to 'pull the trigger', so to speak, I just need to find one at the right price!

The gun show I went to in Denver, CO. this last weekend was horrid ... one vender was selling them for $499.00usd!!!! That's just terribly inflated (in my consumer mind, at least)

I'm looking forward to getting one

Once you get past the issues that needed to be ironed out (and, to be sure, there was more than one), it really is a sweet little pistol. The only thing that I am stumbling over is the caliber. I hemm and haww over whether I should be looking for something (or, rather, an additional something) that has a little more "ummph". But, the BG380 is just so darn compact that there are few situations in which it can't be tucked away discretely, which means that I'd have it if I ever were to need it, God forbid.

2nd trip out to shoot the b.g. and at about 140 rnds total the laser stop working I took it back to g.m and about 30 min later gm had replaced the bad laser with a new one. the new laser is alot easier to turn on from both sides so maybe its a blessing after all. the b.g. it self has worked flawless. no f-f or f-e.

No Problems BG 380

Picked up the BG 380 last week. Dry fired to get the feel. Awful long trigger pull. Went to the range yesterday, and put a 100 rounds of WWB through it without any problems. I really like it.

My laser has now failed on me. Owned it for 3 months, it is my daily carry and I have put 250-270rds down range on it. I have already replaced the batteries and it is still dead. Button fix has been done already. Very disappointed in it as I also own a MP 15-22 and have been very happy with it and am looking at a full size M&P .40...but if the BG380 is an indication of quality on the semi auto handguns...I will be selling the BG380 and getting a Sig P238 and looking at a 4th Gen Glock 22

Please don't base the quality of M&Ps on the Bodyguard. I own two M&Ps, a FS 9 and a compact 9. The compact 9 is my daily carry. They both have a couple of thousand rounds through them and they've functioned flawlessly.

I ended up buying a MP 40 FS and love it, glad I didn't base my decision on the BG380. I got the Apex tactical DCEAK kit with the failure resistant extractor and the ram. Those parts completely transformed the pistol.

I have a buyer on the BG, and have replaced it with something else for a EDC.

Purchased in mid Feb '12, EBB serial #, fired over 600 rds so far, and no problems whatsoever. Long trigger pull takes some getting used to, though.

Mine shoots great 200++ Thru it not a problem. Its my pocket gun when Im wearing shorts. I use the Desanties Nemisis pocket holster works great.

100 rounds thru my EAV. Few failure to fires with PMC, Federal works perfect. Love this gun. Still have a NIB LCP collecting dust in the safe.
