I've got a Black & Decker electric screwdriver that takes the batteries that look like a shotgun shell.

I've got three battery packs. One of them is charged and works properly. The other two will not charge. I've got two of the chargers, neither of which works now.

The first one stopped working, then I bought the other, which until recently worked. The lights on the first one barely light. The ones on the second one light brightly, but it still doesn't charge.

I've tried charging the two "dead" batteries for extended periods on several occasions, with no success.

Any suggestions?

Is there a Batteries Plus business near you? Take your battery pack in to them and see if they have a replacement pack. The replacement will have better cells, most likely you have at least one dead cell in each pack. The OEM packs are lousy quality.

There's actually one of those stores near the computer store (the only real large computer store left in NE Ohio). I see online that they seem to only have the Black & Decker batteries. Does somebody else make a Versapak type battery?

Some of the Batteries Plus stores can rebuild your old batts. I'd call the ones nearest you.

BINGO!!! Batteries Plus has rebuilt several for me, for a B & D drill, a Makita circular saw, a Milwaukee caulk gun and a Milwaukee screw gun. The rebuilt batteries will hold a charge a lot longer than a new OEM.
