I purchased a 10-14 several years ago and shoot it a lot, which of course requires cleaning. For the internals, previously, I have just taken off the side plate, wiped clean, and oiled. This time I got brave and took every thing apart to clean. When I did, the sear spring got away from me and is hiding in the unknown. I ordered 2 (just incase)new springs from Midway. For the life of me, I cannot get them installed. I re-looked at my references, "Numrich" and "Gun Digest Disassembly", and noticed that the sear/hammer assembly is different. Now I am thinking that this is the wrong spring. Any thoughts and reassembly hints would be appriciated.

I suggest you take the gun and all of its little pieces to a gunsmith and let the gunsmith do the work that you need done for your model 10.

While taking it to a gunsmith, if I could find one that knew what he was doing, is an option, I prefer to do things myself, as I would expect most of you would. I am surprised that no one could help me out. I just wanted to know if the hammer/ sear sear arrangement has changed and fi it takes a different spring.

I suggest ordering the Kuhnhausen book on S&W revolvers. Brownells carries it.

There is nothing new about a Model 10. Any gunsmith worthy of the name has experience on the Model 10.
