I have been using my #9460 Automatic Priming Tool for years without a problem However, the last few months I have had issues with the primer delivery.
As the primer tube comes forward, it delivers the primer into the primer rod assembly. But as it pulls away it dislodges the primer and sends it flipping across my bench. If it makes any difference, I use only large pistol primers, mostly Winchester.
I’m hoping you might be able to suggest an area to clean or lube because as you know replacement parts are impossible to find.
Thanks

Figured it out.....please disregard

What was doing it? I've been running the bench priming tool since the late 70s or early 80s when I picked one up clearance priced at $35 at a local gun shop. I've had mine do that on occasion and 99% of the time it was due to the primer cup trying to back out of the mandrel. Like Muley Gil, I've gotten some replacement parts for mine from RCBS for free too. Mine is so old, the primer tubes it came with are half the length of the present primer tubes and could only hold around 50 primers and instead of plastic lips it had the aluminum tube slit at 90 angles on the end that picks up the primers to hold them in while loading the tubes. I've since bought a set of the modern primer tubes, which hold at least 100 primers.

One thing...make sure the primer cup is all the way down. Keep tight. The button that the cup hits to release primers may be worn or it may need tightening..also...the spring that pushes the cup up may be broken...check the cup too. A piece of grit may keep it from freedom of movement also. If it's possible...it can do it. I still consider it the best priming tool

The feed tube was actually positioned too low in the feed arm. I found a guy with a similar problem.. He drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the feed arm and inserted a set screw so that he could position the feed tube higher or lower. I accomplished the same thing with a rubber grommet. Works fine now.
