ProMag 32 Round Magazines

If my experience over the years with ProMag metal magazines is any indication, I predict both quality control and feeding problems.

I hope I am wrong.

I'm not a gambling man either. The Promag AK mags are a joke. I broke two the only time I tried some that were given to me. Now I know why they were free.

Yup, I feel the same way....

I Just ordered two of these. Ill do a review once they come in. Shipping was a flat 10 if I ordered 1 or 2 so I went ahead and ordered two.

If I am going to buy a Non S&W mag, it will be a plinker tactical -if they work well. No sense in buying a mag that looks the exact same as the one we have now anyways, extra 7 rounds or not.

The total came out to 21 shipped when you buy 2 or could be cheaper if you buy more. Thats WAY cheaper than most places sell the factory M&p 15-22 mags. Even buying from 44 mag the factory mags are 20 shipped. IF and from what I understand thats a big if they work its not a bad price in my opinion.

Depends on where you get your mags. I haven't paid shipping yet on any mags I have purchased. 15.99 mag with no paid shipping is cheaper than 21 shipped every time. The trick is to be lucky and order mags when a company is promoting free shipping. I would rather be lucky than good.

Yeah I have bought from Palmetto State when they had the free shipping. Its well worth the price. I have a total of 8 factory mags right now. I even paid $28 for one at dicks when I was there the other day just cause they had one. I think I may have a problem. With these two from pro mag I will have a total of 10 and want more. I plan on buying the plinker tactical mags when or I guess is should say IF they ever come out. I hate reloading at the range.

The only problem you might have is not having enough money. I have 15 mags and will probably get "stupid" and pay the ridiculous price pinker tactical will be able to charge for at least 1 mag.

judging by the pictures and comparing it to the stock mags, it looks like all they did was elongate the magazine body and used a shorter follower due to the curveature of the magazine body. The magazine also appears to have screw in it to hold the body together. I might just buy one just for kicks. That and for some reason I just want to have at least one of every aftermarket magazine. I plan on ordering the plinkerton mags both the 10 and 35 rounders just for fun

Sorry but I have had only good experiences with their mags, at least the ones I have anyway. I have 3 22 rd (they will hold 25) mags for my Rem 597 and they work more reliably than the Remington/Eagle 30 round ones. They are the only mags over 10 rounds that actually hold the bolt open after the last round.
Also have 2 older 20 round mags for my Browning Hi-Power. Never had a problem with them either.

Pro Mag get's a bad rap but for my Saiga 12 their drum mag works just as good as any other manufacturer.

Those that buy them please post a range report for the rest of us. Thanks for being the guinea pig!

All my ProMag experience is with center-fire pistol magazines. I've tried them for about a half dozen pistols and quickly disposed of every one of them. Cheap, cut-rate magazines are generally not worth the money.

For those that have had good luck with them, I am happy for you. :)

I received 2 Promag 32 rounders on Friday. I was planning on testing them out at a steel plate match on Saturday, but my job got in the way and I was unable to attend. So I decided to take them to the range today and run some ammo through them.

I was not expecting much out of them as Promag's rep seems to be mostly negative. I have never used a Promag before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I took a look at them today and tore one down to compare it against the S&W 25rd mag. It seems to me that Promag cloned the S&W mag and just extended it make room for 7 more rounds. The follower, load assist button, and for the most part mag body, are basically the same thing just some cosmetic differences. They fit in the magwell with out issue and drop free very easily.

Loading the mags is the same as the S&W mags. However since they are longer and more curvature to them, you have to watch out if you are loading these standing vertically on a table/bench and you can start to run into a problem.

At the range today I primarily tested the Federal 525 value pack and Winchester M22. I did one mag of Blazer 40gn. Overall I only had 2 failure to hold bolt open on the last round and one issue on the 2nd to last mag of m22 to strip the round from the mag. But upon inspection, that was my fault as the first 2 rounds were not seated correctly.

6 mags of M22 no feed or any other issues

5 mags of Federal 525 1 Failure to lock bolt back on last round

1 mag of Blazer 40gr 1 Failure to lock bolt back on last round

In total 384 rounds in about 45 mins.

Cosmetic damage for being pulled from the mold.

If anyone wants me to test out some other brands of ammo let me know. If I can find it locally with out a problem I will grab some. I will be going to the range probably Thurs/Friday after work and running a few hundred more rounds through the mags.

Mine came in today and they look great. I'm not a big fan of the screws, but it's going to be nice to be able to take the mags apart and clean them. Mine also had a cosmetic spot on the front of the mags from pulling them out the mold. Not a big deal to me and it does not seam to affect anything. I have not had time to get to the range, but they load nicely into the mag well and hold the bolt open when the charging handle is pulled back. When I pushed the mag release button the mag did not "drop out" like the factory S&W mags do. The pro mag would just click then and I could pull it out. The mags are a little long, but I like the look. Can't wait to get out and try them out.
