Need some help on some SW knives I bought from an old gunsmith that worked for me. He said that he bought them from SW and I need some info on them. Will post some pictures.

I want to thank everyone on the forum for their info on these knives ond for their generous offers. I have decided to put them on e-bay so everone will have a chance.
Thanks Raymond

Very nice proof knives. Made for approval of the art work on the knives before final product was made. Very few were produced of each knife. PM sent

You're going to get a lot of bum info on these S&W knives. I ran into this when I tried to sell some myself. They'll tell you that they are all junk, made in some sweat shop in Outer Mongolia, and falsely marked as made in the U.S. I found out the truth. Many of the older knives, like yours were hand made in the U.S., as were mine. I had to contact S&W, and Taylor Cutlery to find this out.

Wont try and fool ya. They are knives made in the 70s here in the US. They are very rare and I wouldnt say highly sought after by all but popular among S&W knife collectors such as myself. These are great knives

You have the Skinner, Bowie and Outdoorsman. The Survival is missing. If the set was complete and mint condition, I would estimate value at $4,000. I have a complete set with same serial number. They have individual leather sheaths, individual blue boxes, and individual wood boxes. Also, an individual wood presentation box was made that holds the complete set. The SCSW values a complete set of same serial number at $3,500. I didn't see the sale on eBay. If someone knows the auction sale price, I would appreciate knowing.

This is off the top of my head, but I recall the Ebay posting had an opening bid of $1,500 and there were no bids, so the auction closed and I did not see a relisting, however I may have missed that if it happened. Raymond, please bring us up to date! Ed.
