Hi,
I picked up a nice blued Model 27-2 but the rear sight was missing. It looks like it was tapped for a scope, with a second hole on the top strap.
Here's the sight I bought but it's too short. The screw hole does not line up.

Can someone assist with finding the correct sight?

That rear sight at Midway is for a much later version of the Model 27, as evidence by the rounded edge on the front of the tang. Check with "Jack First", a vintage gun parts supplier. He may have what you are looking for, but expect to pay a lot more than the one at Midway.

Edited to add: The Model 27 tang is unique among Smith & Wesson N-frame revolvers, in that it has cross-checking on the top, instead of the more common grooves.

I checked the Jack First and Numrich websites but did not see a Model 27 rear sight pictured. You should call them anyway as not everything they have is depicted on their websites.

Sometimes one can be found on eBay, but the Model 27 rear sight assembly is going to be scarce, and you'll probably pay dearly for one if you find one. Good luck in your search!

If you don't mind after market, I installed a Weigand rear sight on my 8 3/8" 29-2. They make a lot of special gunsmith tools as well. I like it.

I checked the Weigand website and saw their own designed rear sight replacement blade, but I did not see the complete rear sight assembly, which includes the tang. I did not see a search function at Weigand so could not look further for the whole assembly.

I have an aftermarket sight I took off of my 27-2 and replaced with a factory sight. If you are interested in it, let me know.

Edit: it is a Behlert
