Proud Owner Of A New SW500

Lyman data has a load of 37.3 gr IMR 4227 with 350 gr slugs. I use Berry's plated for this, also Rainier has a 335gr plated that's slightly cheaper. These are my current go to load for general range plinking and introducing friends to the 500.

Tried Trail Boss but it was a total let down. Very boring to turn a hand cannon into a BB gun.

My next midrange load development will be with CFE Black. Hodgdon's website has data for it. Supposed to be very accurate and clean burning at low to mid range pressure. Plus it's very safe as you can fill the case all the way up to compressed powder charge without getting high pressures. Impossible to double charge a case with this stuff like you can with the light pistol powders.

I've been loading 10grs. of Win. 231 under 440 grs of lead bullet?

Congragulations!! That gun is a monster!! Just today on my way out of my lgs they have one exactly like it in their big glass "top of the line guns" gun case. I was just awstruck standing there admiring that exact same gun. What beauty!! Don't be intimidated by it, either buy or make up some "full house" loads and let her rip!! Then just find some trail boss for some light esy shooting so you will have best of both worlds. Just like 44 mag with hollow points then 44 special in same gun for easy fun target practice trying to get very accurate with it. Enjoy!
