proud to be revolver shooting fuddy duddy

I had a Glock 36 .45 and it was junk. I've been told by several people that about 50% of them were. I generally just hear good things about Glock.

I have a full size S&W M&P 45 and a Shield 45, love both of them.

Can't shoot worth a darn but they are fun to shoot.

In the early 2000s I had a Glock 36. Couldn't go a single mag without a stovepipe or FTF.

Sent it back to Glock and they "fixed" it. Truth is, it came back the same way (I never limp-wristed, etc.) It didn't work with every mag I had, too.

After awhile, I lost faith in its ability to function and sold it off. I had one other Glock, a 26 in 9mm, which was a gem but I sold it years later to satisfy my revolver "geekness." I've never looked back - except to buy an S&W Shield 2.0 Perf. Center Model in 9mm. This gun is the most accurate semi-auto I have ever owned and it has earned a permanent place in my line-up.

I'll never buy another Glock.

did turn informative, despite my best efforts ha ha. anyway, glad we still have the ability, more or less, to own what we like and shoot the same. Different strokes for different folks is how it is and should always be. Thanks to some of the old pros for their insight. As far as being really good on one gun translates to all , I dunno bout that. But experience with it will get you better

I tried a couple of poly wonders. Don't have them any more! Do have real pistols, and of course K,L, and N frame revolvers. Bob

I am a revolver guy. I am a S&W collector. I also like 1911 pistols that work. They are more than just tools to me. I carry a Shield, and I own other poly pistols. They are tools, well except the Jericho. I can shoot any of them adequately. While I don't own a Glock, I know that someday I will. I can shoot them adequately also, and I've never seen one not work. The days of keeping a Model 29 in the headboard are long gone, as are the days of keeping a bright nickel Colt Gov't under the seat of the truck. You need a tool for SD, not an heirloom.

There are a lot of younger people who are interested in revolvers and enjoy shooting them. One thought is that there not as accessible (classic S&W's) compared to modern semi-auto and the price point is likely another factor.

How many Glocks can you buy for a nice 5-screw, 4-screw, 3-screw model 29? My experience is subjective, but whenever I shared a revolver for someone to shoot they were always favorable and wanted one.

I like revolvers MUCH better. And especially more than the current trend of plastic, striker fired autos.

My EDC in retirement is the 340PD but I no longer run into gunfire, or anywhere else for that matter. Working cops need modern auto loaders to be on even footing w/bad guys.

Nothing much left to be said. My 642 works just fine and is on me or within arm's reach 90% of the time. My Shield 1.0 9mm also works just fine and accounts for the other 10%. Neither is particularly "fun" to shoot. My 25-5 and BHP are. I shoot the defensive guns to stay proficient. I shoot the fun guns more for obvious reasons and wouldn't feel unarmed if I had to press either of them in to service.

Interestingly the only guns that have attracted much attention from other shooters and ROs are a 45-70 Sharps, 30-40 Krag and an LC Smith double.

Usually a DA revolver guy too but I prefer a .45 in either over a .38. My favorite is my old Model of 1988 625 but a 1911 is mighty fine too. However my edc is either a lightweight 642 or Colt Mustang both are .38s.

Became an LEO in 1977. Started with revolvers and stayed my whole career. We were also authorized to carry 1911 45's if desired. We finally convinced the Chief to let us carry M25-2 45's so that's what I carried.
My backup/off-duty was a M49.

Even though I own Glocks and a Shield, I still leave the house with the same M49 I carried for years. I'm old, wear trifocals, but shoot the M49 better than any striker-fired auto. I guess I'm an 'Elmer' too.

It's where I got this $700 657-2 .41 Mag. Classic Hunter beauty last year, because people are so hung up on the plastic fantastic bottom feeders, there wasn't much interest:

THAT was a buy!!

I only have revolvers. They are my comfort zone and what I shoot the best.To each his own and I feel like most of you do carry and shoot what is best for you, however mine will always be a wheel gun.

Today I shot my 617. It's my favorite gun now because I had to get rid of all my guns recently. I was going to move into Assisted Living and they didn't allow guns.

My next favorite was my 929. I shoot competition and the 8 shot was a plus for ICORE and USPSA shooting. I hated to see it go but the guy bought it with my reloading equipment and about 10000 primers.

The 617 is very accurate as proved by the below picture. It's been highly modified by me and has a 7.5 pound double action averaging on my Lyman Digital Scale

I use DS-10 speed loaders and loading blocks and can go through a lot of ammo but I took my time today and only shot 200 rounds at the local indoor range.
