When did something happen regarding your S&W semi-auto that could qualify as a miracle?

Ill start with my own story. Today I received my cell phone deposit refund , and it was a rather large sum of money that was returned.

Thus I walked into my local gun store on the hunt for a more concealable firearm than my set of double stack 9mm pistols.I walked in thinking id be buying a Bersa 380. Some might know where this was going, but I sure didn't at the time. As I lay eyes on the gun case I notice two S&W's with bobbed hammers, one of them stainless.

The tag said "S&W 4566, 3 mags, box, $399.99"

I compare the two pistols, and realize the S&W is better built, with a larger caliber, and is a single stack which is just the ticket for better concealability.

One 4473 call in and cash transaction later I walked out with my shiny new to me 4566, which on later discovery not only had 3 mags & Novak night sights but came with an unopened Wolf recoil spring, sealed in the plastic. Gun doesn't seen to need it as I was able to put all the rounds fired right on the can outdoors at the 3 yard distance give or take, very soft recoil.A Beretta 92 shooting +P has worse recoil than this sweetheart gun.

She's worn, but has clearly had a better home than most S&Ws her age. I intend to uphold that legacy.

Speaking of care, I get home to discover that it fits like a glove in my Galco Beretta 92F shoulder rig. What more can a man ask for.;)

Fresh from all that good news I called the gunsmith toiling on my 5906's bum extractor for an update. He just completed the project today and range tested the firearm, so she'll be in the mail en route back home after tomorrow. :D:D:D

Oh, you want pictures? Ask and ye shall receive. On the topic of asking, can anyone here date code my 4566, serial # TDM73XX?

With the 2nd round fired through it today.

And the 2nd Mag destroyed the can .

Funny that you mention the 4506. My 1st S&W was a 4506, which I adored. Except for its long length and Hogue grips, which conspired to make a pistol that was awkward for me to shoot and carry. I dealt with the flaws until I lost my job and had to downsize to something that didnt chamber ammo priced at nearly $20.00 per box :(

Now those ills have been resolved.I may add a 4506 at some point in the future, but ill be satisfied just getting my 5906 back.

If the box is original you can determine the date of manufacture.
Following the serial number is a 4 digit code. This code indicates year/day. For instance, my 5906TSW box reads "5103" indicating the 103rd day (13 April) of 2005.

Our agency issued 4506's up until 2001 when they started to transition out to G22's. I still carry a 4566, an yes just about any holster made for the Beretta 92 will fit the 45XX series of guns.

I won a S&W contest, bought a M&P45 FS with the winnings.

Then my little brother mentioned his department was going to "...the new M&P..." and I asked what they were trading, he said 4513TSW. He managed to buy back a not-too-used 3 year old one and gave it to me for my birthday. Now my EDC.

How's that!

I spent years looking for a rail free 4513TSW. When Martya found his, he recalled my mentioning I'd buy one on sight. He kindly PM'd me the distributors name who had them. Some nice folks on this board.

I finally got my rail free, no holes in the dustcover, tack driving perfect carry gun.

Thanks again Martya!! :) Best regards, 18DAI

do all s&w 3rd gens have this?
for example my 3953 has 6131 after the serial number on the box - does that mean it was made on the 131rd day of 2006?

The 3953 was made from 1991-1999. If what I read is correct, yours was made the 131st day of 1996.
