Ordered a M&P 40C from my LGS today. They had the 9 with a thunb safety and a .40 without, but I wanted a .40 with the safety. Should be here next week, can't wait! Any words of wisdom from the cogniscenti?

I seems like a lot of guys here carry a 40c. I'm thinking I will probably go the same route and get the S&W 9mm and/or .357 conversion barrel and the x-grips so I can use my full size 9mm and .40 cal mags just to have some choices. BTW, how long before your LGS gets it in? I have been looking around and haven't seen any in store and most of the LGS distributors can't seem to get them either.

My first M&P was a fulsize9 then my next purchase was a Keltec PF9 that I never really liked then I bought a Glock26 which is a sub compact 9mm then I got my M&P40C and now I carry it daily even around the house since it is so light I also have a Storm Lake 357 SIG barrel but just went back to the range with the 40 barrel and shot incredibly accurately and fast with it, I can now manage the snappy recoil yesterday afternoon after work I put a new never fired but listed as used M&P full size40 on layaway for $250 amd on Friday the 27 will pay it off and take it home (I would have sooner but I need new glasses and they are not cheap).
The compact M&P40 is an excellent choice in firearms simply because it is such a versatile weapon and not that much more expensive to shoot as compared to my 45s which I shoot only occasionally but the 9 and 40 they are frequent range and IDPA weapons!
By the way the Avatar you see is a small photo of my M&P40C with the pinky extension!

Toward the end of the week. The distributor only had one configured like I wanted. My plan is like yours, to get the 9 mm conversion barrel for a little more versatility. I think things are going to get grim as far as ammo supplies during the runup to the election, and after if the current occupant gets back in

If you are worried about that then you need to bookmark or favorite SGAMMO they have great deals and seems to have it when no one else does here's a link to them 40 cal | SGAmmo.com
Nice, congrats on the purchase. It's already getting hard to find certain handguns and it's pricey to get the ammo for range time. I don't see it getting any better either. Can't imagine what it's going to be like if a second term happens.

Houdini, thanks for the link. I have ordered from them before, with good results. I reload, too, so it's not THAT big of a problem, but I like to keep track of various sources anyway. They are good folks to do business with.
