I just placed my order through CheaperThanDirt.com for the full size S&W M&P .40. Got the 209300 SKU, 15 round magazines, without the manual safety or nanny state magazine safety or internal lock.
This will be an eventual replacement for my S&W Sigma SW9VE, once I break it in and find defense ammunition that works well. I liked the Sigma once I mastered the trigger. But the proprietary rail and lack of accessories and holster options and just the desire to get a new gun prompted me to get the M&P.
I was debating weather I wanted to go .40 or stay 9mm for the cheaper ammo. Once I found out about the conversion barrel I decided to go with the .40. The sale of my Sigma will fund the conversion barrel and 9mm magazines.
Accessories already in my mind are already mentioned conversion barrel, a Streamlight TLR-2 and a Blade Tech (or similar) holster that will accommodate the weapon with the light.
Internals will remain stock as this well be primarily a defensive pistol. Although it will see range use (hence the 9mm conversion) and possible competitive shooter.
This might be an occasional carry pistol if I travel through or need to visit a less than desirable part of town. But it will defiantly not be replacing my 24/7 carry Ruger LCP.
