Why is the hammer and trigger, and cylinder, have a purple tint? Lend lease V Mod. I thought all S&W hammers and triggers were Case Hard.

Yes, the hammer and trigger should be case hardened. If they are blue, it indicates that they have been refinished. When the bluing turns purple (called "plumb") it is usually attributed to improper control of the temperature in the bluing process. Different colors can also be attributed to differences in the metal.
