Can anyone name the guns that were in production for the entire twentieth century? Only three come to mind for me: the Winchester 94, Marlin 39, and perhaps the Savage 99 (it was removed from their catalogue in 1999). Any others?

The colt single action army came out in 1872. They stopped production at world war two and started up again in 1956. That was a 15 year hiatous. However out of the last 141 years they have missed 15 years and produced them 126 years. And they still are in production. That should be worth honerable mention.

Molot is said to still be producing the MN but the few people that have them seem to disagree as to whether they are new or not. Seem that at least at some point they were made to look "like new'. Others have new ones

I enjoy reading about that period in history. From what I understand Colt stop production because they felt their single action would not sell well in a double action world. They claim they were not getting the orders.
It was also during that 15 year period that Western TV shows and movies became the culture in America. William B. Ruger saw an opportunity and he filled the hole left by Colt. His design modernized the internal mechanics of the Single Action Army and ended up selling millions.

The Marlin 39 started in 1939 and the 39A in 1940. Plus 1, for the Mauser 98- but CZ is the only company I can think of currently producing them. An un-official nomination would be a zip gun. Maybe a Colt Cap and Ball model like the Walker, Dragoon, 1851 Navy or 1861 Army? Ivan

The 39 was a slight update and re-naming of the design Marlin had been making since 1891 or '93, don't recall exactly which.
Not unlike the Smith change to model numbers.
Essentially the same fine rifle, in production and use for around 120 years. One of Annie Oakley's favorites.
