Question about 22LR lower

This may be a dumb question but its one Ive been thinking about for a few weeks now. Is it possible to put a .223 upper on a M&P 15-22 Lower? Kind of like the conversion kit that you can buy to turn your full size AR into a 22 just in reverse? I know the M&P .223 has a aluminum upper and lower while the 22LR is made out of High-Strength Polymer with Integral Steel Inserts but other then that it looks like it would work.

No not possible, two completely different animals, and why would you want to? if you already have a real ar anyways,

- They won't physically fit together
- AR magazine won't work in the 15-22 lower
- 15-22 lower's buffer tube is fake. AR won't work w/out a buffer & buffer tube

The 'Integral Steel Inserts' are the two rails the bolt rides on and are part of the 15-22s 'bolt carrier group' and are not part of the 15-22's upper or lower. Neither the upper or lower has any steel inserts in them.

I know it won't work, but if it could........it would be funny as hell to see the .223 upper try to cycle to bolt in the 15-22 lower. It would probably blue the fake buffer tube clean off the lower.

The guy doing it would have to be a moron cause the odds are that kind of stupidity would get him at least an honerable mention in the next years Darwin Awards.

I was merely asking a question I'm no gun expert. I just thinking outside the box so to say. That's why I asked and didn't try slapping the thing together.
