Question about cowboy movies

I also HAVE to say. I loved that movie. Nothing was sacred in the darn thing. I remember the line the Kid said about salt of the earth everyday normal town folks ...you know....MORONS! Clevon Little almost choked on that. It had to be an unscripted line... if not it shoulda been.

Pilgrim... to be honest I like Johnny cake better...and father in law liked Johnny cake but complained about it till he died. In fact he died getting up from the dinner table at almost 102. Last meal?? Vegetable Beef soup and a pan of corn bread

I am amused at the old westerns where they rob the stage coach then
take the strong box, full of gold dust, and ride off holding it with one
hand. Must of been strong guys and horses to carry a few hundred
pounds of gold.

Gold in 1880 was $20.67 an ounce.
To steal a large sum for those days, say
$50,000, you'd have to be ready to
carry just about 175 pounds. Doable
with an extra horse or mule or several
riders parceling out the weight.

They did use the soundbites and also the sound of horses running, but hey, it's entertainment.:rolleyes::D

Did read about stories of live 22 rounds being used in old movies like Winchester '73 and actual 22s fired at Jimmy Stewart when he was up in the rocky mountain chase scenes.
