Question about N frame grips

What were public carry grips and when were they made?

You may be referring to modified Magnas, also called PC or plainclothes with rounded bottoms. These were only on model 58s and 520s.

Like Alan said for N frames, starting about 1964.

But Plan Cothes magnas, also called Police Carry were 1st introduced in 1952, and were used originally on 4" and shorter 38 & 357 K frames; Models 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 64 and 56, and L frame 581.
