I just received two Wilson Combat mags. Is it alright to to keep them loaded or does this effect the spring tension after awhile?

A spring shouldn't wear out from staying compressed.

They wear out from being used (compressing/expanding/compress...)

FWIW I had a CMC shooting star mag loaded for about 2 years straight through hunting seasons and finally decided to empty it. Every round went bang.

I've had four mags for my duty weapon loaded from one requal to the next, which is a six month span, with no ill effects. All the mags get unloaded and reloaded/used on this basis, and have been for almost ten years. Never a MF.

I used different mags in the same weapon for IDPA etc, as they take a much larger amount of use/abuse, and still haven't had a problem with function with my comp mags either.

I would say that an OEM magazine or a high quality aftermarket will work if loaded for long periods of time, at least that has been my experience.

Ive yet to have a mag fail due to its spring.
Wilsons mags seem to be engineered with a little extra margin by way of the removable floor plates. it seems to allow the spring to be slightly decompressed over other mags, which can only help... that is if its ever proven to be an issue

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard positive and negatives on the issue. With the positives you folks have shared today, I'm going with that.
Now if only my 1911 would arrive so I could try out these bad boys.
Thanks again.
