I have a collection of various model 945 variations, and I'm trying to decide which of these two duplicates to keep. They are essentially identical 945-1 compact, 3.25" models, with serial numbers only a few digits apart (RSC00xx & RSC00xx). One, however, has a ported slide and barrel, and there is my question: Does anyone know if the porting is factory original, or an aftermarket job? I've never seen any other ported 945's, but you never know. I don't want to keep it if its an aftermarket mod. Thanks for any insights.

Well I don't know much but what I do know is, those are some nice looking pistols.

Have you looked at thread on ported shortly forty's. Sounds and looks like distrubiter may have been the same, and sure looks the same.

Ooh, a ported 945!

Dunno about originality, but never say Never with S&W
These 945 compacts sure are sweet little pieces aren't they?

Wish this had been a week earlier lol. Just bought one of gunbroker. It will be the wife's carry piece. The ported would have made it nice for her. The one I got was shipped in 2010, and doesn't have the 945 etched on it. Hope to have it and take her to shoot next week.

Don't worry, the recoil is very very manageable. Feels more like recoil out of a commander-sized 1911. She'll love it!
