Question about S&W M&P .40

Hello all,

I have a buddy who was doing some modifications to his Glock and found someone who sells smooth bore barrels for his gun. I'm interested in getting a smooth bore barrel for my new M&P .40, and was wondering if anyone had any idea of which direction to look in, because I have run out of places to look.

1) Why would you want a smoothbore barrel?

2) I think you would be making what BATFE considers a short barrel shotgun, or Any Other Weapon (AOW) subject to all the terms, requirements and penalties of the National Firearms Act.

I just did a little more digging, and looked on the website where my buddy supposedly found the smoothbore barrels. I didn't see any online, which leads me to believe he was just making $#!t up, which wouldn't surprise me.

As for wanting a smooth bore barrel - they're supposedly better for range shooting (for close ranges), but I don't remember the reason that my friend said that.

However, if anyone happens to have a lead, I would still love some direction.
