Question about selling here

I have a nice 5906 TSW that I would like to sell soon. I read the rules for sellng on this forum.. What do I need to know about the actual transfer other than than the FFL paperwork? What is the typical agreement between buyer and seller about receiving payment and shipping. Maybe there is a thread addressing this issue but I couldn't find one. Thanks for any help !!

It's always best to be very specific in your ad - what is included (box/papers/holster/magazines, or just the gun), whether or not shipping/insurance is included with the price, what form of payment is accepted, etc. I believe it is probably safest for both buyer and seller if a postal money order is used. Be prepared for Private Messages from potential buyers requesting more info/pics and whatnot, so make sure your inbox has room. If price is firm, be sure to state that also. FFL fees are typically each parties own responsibility. Do not allow item to be shipped until you have cashed the check! Be fair to all - first member to say "I will take it" either in ad response or in direct communication trumps all.
Be sure to leave feedback after transaction is complete. I would advise to use some caution when dealing with a newer or not very active member. You can always click on their Forum name to see their posts and what kind of reputation they have. I have bought/sold here on several occasions without issues and it's a blessing to be a part of a like-minded community.

I suppose that all transactions are different and are case by case.

Most of the time, (after an agreed price is established, (including whatever shipping and transfer costs are involved,) the seller waits for the payment method to clear and then sends the item out. If the buyer "appears" to be of good standing sometimes the seller doesn't wait that long.

When buying things here I always email a picture of the check, bank draft or USPS money order depending what is requested, picture of the addressed envelope and the tracking number.

Do NOT send FedEx 2nd day. Prices are exorbitant and the item does NOT make it in 48 hrs. Unfortunately "someone" has to pay for it and it usually isn't the seller. Total waste of money. Trust me I know. A $550.00 item becomes a $700.00 item and that sucks.

This is a great place to buy/sell. Even mentioning a nice 5906TSW has already gotten lots of attention, myself included. Is it originally a rail free one?

Thanks for the reply. I am considering selling this 5906 TSW but I do have someone locally who has expressed an interest. I'm giving him a little time to decide. It does have a rail but I don't know if it was original. I thank you very, very much for the answer to my post !!!

The only thing I can add based on recent experience is to check to see if the receiving FFL will accept shipments from a non FFL. If they will, it can save some money and make the transaction much more reasonable. It eliminates one transfer fee.

Also, as 4T%GUY notes below, you can do not have to use Second Day FedEx.

I just shipped a handgun to a buyer in another state and when I went to my FFL to see about an outbound transfer and shipment. He apologized, but said that it would be a week after I dropped it off before he could get it to the PO. He's that busy and he picks up and drops off his mail at the PO for reasons I won't go into.

Anyway he told me to call the receiving FFL to see if they would accept the shipment from me. He then told me that it's not required to use Next Day or Second Day FedEx.

I owe him for saving me that money and will put what I saved into buying something from him.

Magazine capacity

As someone who is stuck in a restricted state it also helps to list the magazine capacity as some of us are limited to 10 rounds.
One of my pet peeves for the big broker site and one of the reasons when I retire I'm moving.

And, because only an FFL can ship through the USPS it is cheaper to pay the FFL fee and ship FFL to FFL.

Thanks very much for the responses to my question! Really, really appreciated !! I was able to make a deal locally for my 5906
tsw so I won't be selling it here. I can't help wonder if I will regret this someday because it was a very nice example.

Unless you have another very nice example of a 5906 TSW that you like better, then yes, you will regret selling it someday.

But then, that's true of nearly all guns.
