Hi. all. They said I don't post often enough (my ex-wife said I didn't listen either :) )
Anyway, I have a bit of project to do. I am not a very experienced reloader but have done a bit now. So, I found that when I was inserting primers with an RCBS hand tool with a Lee 'universal' holder that they didn't seat well enough. Close but not quite there. It seems the chamfer on the Lee didn't allow for complete bottoming. Now that I have the RCBS holders I am going to pull some bullets, powder and try to reseat the primers. Some questions:
when I remove the powder should it be segregated to be re-used? Or, can it just go back in the container? The bullets are hard cast (45 Colt), are there any issues in re-using them?
I keep good records and label well so I know what components I have. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

I had a similar situation when I first started reloading, and using a Lee Auto Priming hand tool. What I did was to seat the primers in about 50 or so prepared, but otherwise empty shell casings, then dismantled the cartridges that needed the primers to be reseated. As I dismantled a cartridge, I dumped the powder into the new shell casing, placed the bullet on it, and seated it. It was a little slow, but once you worked out a rhythm, it wasn't too bad. Once you figure out how much pressure to use on the priming tool, it's like riding a bike. It just takes a little time and practice.

Best of luck,

Dave

Great idea, Dave! I had not thought of that and will make it much easier to control. One thing I don't do is hurry at this.
thanks
