Question for DOC44

Was the Helpful Hints brochure put in with the pre 29's when they were shipped out?
Just a cold wintery day, nothing to do, curiosity question.

JMO, but, if your just bought a 44 Magnum you really don't need any helpful hints. It's cold here also.

The only literature I have seen with a 44 Magnum is the registration card with the serial number of the gun written on it.

Those didn't come out until the Model numbers in 1957, besides, where would they put them.

At about what serial # and year did .44 Magnum triggers change from 0.5" to 0.4"?

It's not so cold here but mother nature has been dumping buckets of water on me all day. I'm sure the moss and lichen love it but it's not so great for yard work.

I think all of the Model 29-2s have the 0.500 inch wide target trigger. The production model 629s came out in 1980 with a smooth target trigger that is 0.400 inch wide, but I think the 0.400 inch wide trigger was not used on the Model 29 until the 29-3 in 1982. Someone else may have better information as my knowledge is a little sketchy on the Model 29-2 of the later 70s early 80s.

Presumably for safety, the widths of all K and N Target Triggers were reduced 0.1" so they would no longer be wider than the trigger guards. Offering some Target Triggers without grooves was a separate issue. I suspect 629s were introduced with smooth triggers to reduce cost. 0.4" grooved triggers were standard in 29-3s. I'm pretty sure late 29-2s had 0.4" grooved triggers. I think Target Trigger width was reduced during the late 1970s. I'd like to know the approximate year and serial number that change was made.
