Hi All - Can someone tell me if the Trailboss is a round butt or square butt? I saw one in a local shop but couldn't tell due to the huge, wrap around rubber grips covering the backstrap. Might as well ask what you all think a fair price would be also - probably 95% condition. Thanks, Tom

Round butt -- perfect for Nill RB combat grips!!

$600 or so is a fair price -- they are rugged and durable guns. My trailboss (unfluted and unported) is my backpacking carry gun. I love it!

Tom,
Mine is a round butt. As to the price 600-700 is probably about right, but I have seen the Deluxe Anniversary Edition listed for upwards of 1400. It was a very limited run made for RSR.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I would have preferred to hear that they were SB, but still won't write it off. The gun in question is unfluted - but ported. Looks like Maganport's work. I can probably get it for around $600ish.
Kindest Regards - Tom

Tom,
Let us know if you get it and post some pics. They are a lot of fun to shoot, recoil is not bad at all, nothing like I was expecting. The round butt really does feel good to my hand. I bought a set of Pachmyers for it, same as on the new Night Guards, I think they are called compacts, for when I'm carrying in the woods or on the 4 wheeler.

My favorite revolver even though it has "The lock". Unfluted and unported. New in 2003.

The grips on it are must likely the X frame Hogues. I have them on my Mountain Gun.
If you shoot a lot, they are what you want. They are ugly, but they do work.

FYI - The new Classic 29 in blue and nickel with the 3 inch barrel is square butt. It does have the thinner barrel profile, and is lock and MIM qualified.

They are also VERY expensive when compared to a used 29 prelock.

Lovely guns, both of them. Very accurate. Great balance.

That is the one I was referring to. Is the barrel 3 or 3.5 inch?

I love those. They have a great balance to them, but are pricey when NIB. You can buy a prelock cheaper.

The Trailboss is a 3-incher.
