Dear Smith and Wesson Forum, I have a question for owners of the s&w model 36 .38 caliber revolver. Do any of you shoot federal American Eagle 130 grain full metal jacket .38 special ammunition in your model 36? the reason that i am asking is because that specific type and brand of ammunition is what i plan to shoot in my model 36 when i go on my first range trip this summer sincerely and respectfully mg357 a proud member of the Smith and Wesson Forum. p.s. my model 36 was manufactured by s&w in 1972.

I've used this ammo in a model 36, it works fine as a informal target load and has very low recoil. Enjoy!

That's what I shoot. My 36 chronos Federal AE at 750fps. Not great but not that bad for a snubbie
An auto in 380 chronos at 600fps
Hollow points or any specialty ammo will probably not perform well at these velocities. A FMJ is the best bet, IMO, for penetration, performance, etc….

I've shot that 130gr ammo and Remington 130gr FMJ ammo in my M36. Both worked just fine for practice and the brass is very good for reloading too.

I've used this stuff in my 2in 37 and 3in 36 while teaching some new female shooters because it is so mild..
