Question for the OR guys

I just bought a M&P15OR and I'm wondering what type of front sight i need. Anyone heard of the magpuls warping? Any help is helpful thanks.

Magpul makes very solid products, I dont think you should have to worry about warping. Also Troy Industries makes very good folding sights, these come standard on the MP15-T model.

I do like the magpul sights, but I was curious about the effects of heat on the magpul front sights myself as for mounting directly on the gas block. I guess we should have heard of someone warping/melting one by now if it was a problem, lol.

+ 1 on the Troy Industries folding sights, Yankee Hill makes some good ones too, but they stick up a little more than the Troys when folded down. I have a pair of Yankee Hill folding sights on my MP15OR and the Troy folding rear sight on on my MP15A, both have held up well.

I have just ordered some MAGPUL folding sights for my 15OR. Have heard nothing but praises for their construction and durability. Have some other folding sights on my 15-22 but they stick up a bit to much for my liking. MAGPUL is known for their solid construction and durability. Cost benefit analysis after much searching and review led me to the purchase and am eagerly awaiting delivery.

Well, I'm not a "OR guy" yet, mine will not get here until Monday.
But do have the MagPul Backup sights (MBUS) on our M&P15-22. So I know nothing about how they will hold up to direct heat on a gas block, but we (me and my boys, it's really Cam's 15-22) really like the MBUS. Some don't like that they don't "lock" up. I'm fine with that. They of course are perfect for the 15-22, and I have enough faith in them that I'm picking up another set this weekend for Mondays Great Event
I'll use them as primary on the M&P15OR, until I get the optic I want, and then really use them as backups. On the 15-22 they co-witness (??? is this the correct term ???) perfectly with our cheap holo sight, so when I mounted the holo, we just sighted it in to the backup sights, and it was almost spot on when we got to the range. I just love a not too expensive product that works great, and the MBUS (to me) are that.

Now those Troy Industries sights are a work of art. You pay for that. If cash wasn't a consideration, I'd have to take a hard look at them (or may have got them with the 15T).

I have MBUS's on my OR--after a couple hundred rounds, don't see anything. And I've not heard that notice about "warping". They seem to be very heavy duty, e.g., if you're not ready with your fingers when you hit the release buttons/levers, they can be a knuckle buster!

Yea, I've done the knuckle thing a few times on our 15-22 with the MBUS.

My M&P15OR arrived yesterday. I only had time to clean it and run 160 rounds through it, a few of the last mags rapid fire. It was hot enough to smoke off all the oil, and the front MagPul MBUS looks no worst for ware (well, looked a lot greyer than the rear site, until it was cleaned; the front block does get very hot). I'll see how the next few thousand round go, but I'm not worried.
