Question on 24-3 3" Combat Manual

I have a ANIB 24-3 3" Lew Horton Combat .44 Special. It has the letter from Lew Horton showing it's one of the 5000, a photo copy of a magazine article on these revolvers, warranty card, a couple of other papers, wax paper, unopened cleaning kit, etc...It does NOT have the manual. What is the date on the manual in the box with these revolvers? Mine is AEJ prefix and was shipped to Lew Hortons in July of 1984.

I'm looking for the manual and want to make sure I buy the correct period one.

Also looking for the S&W factory black holster for it (I know, only like 1000 of those made).

My 24-3 is s/n AEMxxxx and shipped July 1984. Unfortunately I bought used and there was no manual. You might look on S&W website but most likely it will be a generic revolver handbook, not specific to the 24-3. I did check the Cornell Publications website and they don't have any listed either.

Thanks, same with mine. I see a manual listed in various package photos of the 24-3 Combat Special but no pics I've seen are close up enough (and of course usually on the last page) to identify the date.

There are a few on auction sites which I've asked what the dates are and either get no response, or "it doesn't matter"...well yeah it does, my 1984 gun wouldn't come with a 1950's manual!

You can see some of the paper work included with Model 24-3 revolvers in post #33 of the thread linked below. The parts diagram does, in fact, show it to be the 1950 .44 Target Revolver Model 24 (can be seen more clearly in post #20, but just barely). I believe this is a factory reproduction of the original manual.

Any Model 24-3's out there.

Thanks rbmac, I didn't know if there was a later dated reprint or if it was a copy of the original. I knew it looked like the original. I guess that will do then. Earl
