Looking into a trade on a Model 500, 3", Blue?--I have not seen the gun, I double checked, he said it's not stainless, it's blue. Fellow says he thinks it's a prototype, comes with factory, plain cardboard type box. I can't find any information on this--- Does it even exist?---Thanks for any info.

Some of the stainless S&W models are finished/coated with a black substace such as the current 632. I've never heard of a blued steel 500 model. Could it exist - possibly, but it wasn't a factory run to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks for the reply 505, ---I called the seller again, he said in fact it is black, not blue. He is not a gun guy, so precise information is not clear, This piece was left to him in an estate. I got a email picture, like he said , it's in a plain cardboard box with white sticker in lower right corner.

I agree with 505Gibbs, I don't think that there have been any factory runs of 3" barreled .500 Mags with a blue/black finish. All the 3" barreled models are brushed stainless. There have been PC .500 Mag models with a blackened stainless finish. Ohio Coconuts, one of the forum members, has one or two of them. Don
