I currently have a 29-5 with the 6.5 inch barrel with full lug. I swapped the Hogue rubber grips for a factory set of wood grips and am thrilled with the revolver, but it is a big beast and I have wanted to either find a 4 in blued barrel, no luck for 3 years running, or swap it for a 4 in model. My buddy who is an FFL just got a 629 with a 4 inch barrel. I have met my gun quota for the year so purchase outright is not an option. Are these two close in value that I could straight faced ask for a trade, or am I shorting myself or would he just laugh at used 29-5 for a new 629? The finish isn't the best, there is a little wear at the front of the cylinder and the barrel doesn't have any markings on it.

I think you answered it your self. Re read the post and or put your self in the FFLs spot. It never hurts to ask because there is a gun for everyone.

Your gun might be what the 629 owner has been looking for. All the owner can say is NO!!! Personally, I would prefer the 29, but that is just me. I have more stainless than blue revolvers. YOU can not beat a beautiful BLUE beauty! Bob
