A local Cabelas has a MP 15-22 Performance Center rifle that is used but in excellent condition for $489.00 (could probably get it for $450.00). I've been holding out for the FDE MOE version, but as most people know they are hard to come by. Is the Performance Center model that much of an upgrade where it would be worth buying and then putting the Magpul furniture on it? I'm not a big fan of the VLTOR buttsock or the sights on the Performance Center model, and I perfer the Magpul pistol grip over the Hogue.

Thanks.

The performance center comes with the match chamber and barrel which are built to tighter tolerances than the other 15-22's. this makes it so you caNnot use certain ammo like CCI Stingers, which are made a tad longer than other .22 ammo.

I personally don't own a performance center, but from what I read the benefits are negligible. I have the regular black MOE model, and I love it.

Value wise, I think the Magpul MOE is the best bet cause if you ripped all the magpul stuff off and sold it, it is an easy $150+ worth of mods.

Isn't the barrel longer, and wouldn't that make it a little more accurate than ours.

Longer barrels have very very little to do with accuracy. There are plenty of other things which affect accuracy more, most importantly the alignment of the bullet with the barrel. The PC's chamber is good at doing that.

Like Dattebayo said, the Magpul stuff adds up to over $150 so you'll bet much more out of pocket if you do it yourself.

I went to pick up an MOE the other day. When I got there the PC felt so much better in the hand I spent the extra money on that instead. Price-wise the UK is WAY more expensive but I still felt the Performance Centre was worth it. Both were brand new but maybe the MOE was just a 'bad one' but he didn't have another MOE for me to try. So far, no buyers remorse.
One of the guys at the local club ha an MOE so I'll try and do a back to back when I get the chance.

If I'd have spend $450 on t (rather than 3 times that) I'd be over the bloody moon!

The pc version has an 18" fluted match barrel,a two stage competition trigger, a laney match chamber and vltor stock ,mine is fussy with what its fed but with the right diet is plenty accurate but because of the tighter chamber it cannot be used with some bullets which use longer cases and needs to be cleaned a bit more often to prevent jams. I wish I could test a the pc and non pc versions side by side, would be interesting.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't quite made up my mind yet. I'm on shift on the fire department today anyway, so I couldn't buy it until tomorrow (if its still there). Its kind of bugging me though that it won't accept all 22 LR bullets, like Stingers.

At that price, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

If that PC model was here in my area I'd be all over it. I currently have a MOE model... to be honest I've replaced both the MOE pistol grip and stock on my 15-22 MOE rifle with other components.

Well you snooze and you lose. Went back to Cabelas today and it was gone. I did go hunting though and shot a decent size mule deer buck. Thanks for all of the advice/comments.

Fear not. Just get the Moe or even a standard version. You won't be disappointed trust me. Congratulations on the mule deer!
