Question on sights.

Standard 15-22 w/ S&W factory sights. Run the rear sight all the way down. Shoot at 25 yds., hits low. Need to adjust front sight to raise POI. About a half inch at 25 yards.

I have mine set up where I am on at 25 yards on the Z setting, and I am on again at 50 yards by bottoming out the rear sight.

So you might want to try that out.

Back to the original question, how much you could expect the POI to move for a quarter turn would depend on the ammo. At 25 yds. Not too Much but at larger distances the variation can be notable.

Personally, I use a reflex sight and magnifier and dial it in for 75 yards. Once you've done that, that should get you at least on target at most distances. Then you can just aim high or low depending on the actual distance without re-calibrating. Side to side should stay the same other than wind variations. Once you get to know the ammo and distances you should be pretty much set except for differences in brands and FPS in velocity.

There is no hard and fast rule. Just approximations. Iron Sights or scope, it's all the same deal.

If you want to raise the point of impact raise the rear sight. By running the rear sight all the way down, you caused it to shoot low. Just turn the rear sight in the "up" direction ( raise the rear sight ) and you will be where you want to be.

Moving the rear sight, the POI moves the direction that you moved the sight. Up raises POI, right moves POI right, etc. The front sight movement is just the opposite, as up lowers POI, and if you could move it right, the POI would move left.
