Getting some serious numbness in my hands and I have trouble racking the slide on the Shield, can do the big MP40. Is changing springs in the shield going to help or should I just trade it off? It is super accurate and I like it.

I'd see a doctor to determine if the problem can be reversed before getting rid of the Shield since they are so hard to come by. You could put the Shield aside and get yourself a J frame in the short run - good reason to buy another handgun . . .

to give you an idea i shoot my Officers 1911 (3.5 barrel) with 230 grain ball, is about the exact same as the shield with 180gr ball... its not a "range" gun by any means, box of 50 is it... but thats not what its for...

as for your hands you need to get it checked... your having the issue not the gun...

spring is stiff, but not that bad imo... the more you shoot it the more it will loosen up... put another 500 rds down range and it will get better

i also have a hard time racking mmy 40 shield i put on a pair of batting gloves leather and no problem, also had REMSPORTin ludlow mass. install apex trigger kit real easy to shoot now very accurate now trigger pull now 4.5 lbs. love it .

All good advice, thanks, thinking about another J frame, already have the LCR .357. Back to the health club too.
