Hi Guys

When I first bought my Platapus I was excited until I started getting a hammer follow on average 1x every 2 magazines. Sent the pistol in for repair and they said the pre-tension on trigger was the cause. Ok so I go back to range and problem seems mostly solved but on average I get 1 hammer follow every 100 shots.

Yes my platapus is properly oiled and this only happens when I am doing double taps while riding the trigger. At no point is my fingers completely off the trigger

Then when I was at a match Sunday I had one competition shooter and the RO told me my gun went full auto 4 shots but my hammer was still cocked and I had plenty of rounds in the magazine. I am pretty sure it was only 2 rounds that went full auto could have been a bump fire but someone told me that is literally impossible to do on a 2011 style pistol.

I already called platapus explaining the situation but to be honest they were very responsive up and until the problem was fixed but after that they have not followed up. I won't be using this gun anymore for comp shooting it's too dangerous.

Any thoughts on this? If it was a reoccurring issue with the sear or spring you would think it would happen all the time. Is it possible I am causing this?

Send it home again on there dime and send the same description of your problems on paper with it . It is there problem to fix . If you have even the tiniest amount of trigger take up it sounds more like a sear hammer engagement problem at least to me .

I'm going to see if the problem becomes obvious right now it's only doing it on one round every 100 shots so if it happens to the point where it clearly is not functioning and it's happening every magazine then I'll send it back I know stealth arms has a lifetime warranty however the several emails I sent and phone calls I made there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency

Well good luck getting this company to deal with your issues .

Stop riding the trigger and see how that works ...

It may simply be "Triggernometry" ... some guns / triggers are like that and you just have to learn how to work the trigger while shooting .
Somewhere there is a Jerry Miculek video of him explaing triggers and how to use them when shooting fast ... no link ... I'm computer illiterate , Sorry !
But if anyone can work a trigger Jerry would be The Man .

What Gary said. The 1911, especially the custom light trigger ones, have very very little margin for "riding the trigger" You may not think your pressing the trigger enough for it to fire but I'm guessing the gun thinks otherwise.

When I first bought the gun it would hammer fire once every other magazine on average. I sent it into stealth arms and they were very nice responsive and adjusted the spring tension I guess according to them. After getting it back the problem seemed fixed except again one out of 100 shots I would get a hammer follow. Since then I have emailed and called explaining that I was going to monitor the situation and see if it gets worse before I see remedy

After the match last week it went for at least two rounds full auto I again emailed the company and you would think by now they would reach out to me concern possibly a liability issues but nothing yet they have not returned any of my emails.

On platypus website you can request a 2.5 to 3 lb trigger pull however I spoke to a custom gunsmith shop and they told me unless your pistol is an atlas you should never have a spring rate of 2.5 lb and that's why according to him i pretty much getting hammer follow.
