Hi all. I'm planning to take a car trip from Florida to Taxes via Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and finally arrive to Taxes. All those state recognize my Florida Resident CCW. But given that interstate travel is under federal rules, do I need to store away my UNLOADED gun in the trunk for the duration of the trip or I can have it on my body concealed the whole trip (12-13 hours)?

the second question is about "unloaded" gun. If I have to lock my gun unloaded in the trunk, what does "unloaded" terminology mean? ammo locked separately or the magazines can be loaded with ammo, but just kept separately from a gun?

Thank you so much for your input.

Your good inTexas with it on your person. Watch for the 30 06 posters that tell you you can't carry in that place.

Once you confirm that all states you will travel through will honor your Florida carry license, you can keep your firearm in the passenger compartment, loaded, just as you can in Florida.

The fact that you are traveling on interstates has no bearing.

Your FL permit allows you to carry in FL according to FL law. Once you leave Florida, the laws of the state you're occupying are the laws you need to follow, not the state where your permit was issued. Mississippi may recognize your Florida permit, but it does not recognize Florida law.

you are totally right. and thank you all for the replies. I'm more concern , because it not cleared to me about crossing the States lines. And the definition of "unloaded" weapon.

Thank you all if someone can clarify those points to me

While each state may have a legal definition of "unloaded", I believe that in most states I f not all that will indicate ammo and gun packed separately and not within reach of vehicle occupants. Some states even state "locked in a container other that the vehicle glovebox".

Better to go to one of the sites and read each individual state you will be traveling through.

As long as you have a valid concealed carry license, you can carry a loaded gun wherever you go. Of course you'll need to learn about places that are off limits even with the license.

Loaded vs unloaded can be a very long discussion that can be difficult to determine depending on each state. In California the answer to that question is long and convoluted. I wish there was a simple answer, but there isn't.

So, the best I can say on that score is that you're OK as long as your license to carry remains valid.
