What is the paper called that Smiths come wrapped up in? Brown in color, has the Smith & Wesson Logo, and has a wax texture called? Anyone sell it? Is there a near knock off if it isn't sold commercially? Or can a person make it? Thanks

I call it an oil paper. Might be called a wax paper too.

I seen it for sale somewhere in the past, just don't recall where.

Contact the factory and ask for VPI paper. It is usually available for purchase. I don't know the price.

I have a question for you.

How many Redhawks were manufactured in .357? If you know the break down by barrel length or blued vs. stainless I’d like that also. I’ve only seen one, my stainless 7.5 inch.

RedHawk question. Two barrel lengths 5.5 and 7.5 I have only seen these two lengths and in stainless only. I prefer the 5.5" but there was a time I would have paid a premium price for a 7.5" before I found my current 5.5"
I have only seen pictures of a blued 44 RedHawks in both barrel lengths. Kinda surprised by that now that I think of it.

Thanks for answering my Redhawk question. The 7.5” .357 is too muzzle heavy to be comfortable firing one handed. The small slippery factory stocks exaggerate the feeling that the muzzle wants to droop. An 8 3/8” M 629 Classic with smooth wood factory combats has the same problem due to its underlug. I handled a 5.5” blued Redhawk 23 years ago. I’ve not seen or heard of any other blued ones in calibers smaller than .44.

K22Fan, funny you mention the slippery wood grips. Just bought a RedHawk 44 5.5" to match the 357 (buying 45 later this summer); well anyway that stock grip with Titegroup 8.4 to 9.0 and 240 gr bullets was ALL OVER the place. Been spoiled by the Pachmyer Decels on the 357 or the Hogues on my S&Ws. Ordering new grips for it today. By the way thanks again everyone for the name of VCI Paper. Anyone want to split a bundle

You can order it from the factory for .30 cents a sheet. Whether you get it or not is another story. I ordered 15 sheets before christmas and I'm still waiting, the paper is supposed to be on back order. Go figure.
