I was looking at a friends 63 today. The serial # is M110xxx. He asked me if I could provide a manufacture date.
I thought it was a J Frame. I have an older Roy Jinks book. It shows nothing re: the 63 in the J Frame Chapter and the book is too old to reference the serial #.
Please help. What is the frame size. What is the year of manufacture?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I failed to mention recessed cylinder & I think I remember a pinned barrel. It definitely showed 63 no dash. What approximate value at 98% no box? Blue Book says $350. but I understand that they are commanding more.

I failed to mention recessed cylinder

All 22rimfire models had the recessed cylinders, then and now.

As for the Blue Book, use it for reference - for all things but price...

they are horribly out of date with regards to price.

Thanks for the help. I am certainly not an expert. This guy is a little older and I think having buyers remorse as he paid $400. for the 63. I told him I thought he did well and that the 63's were a little hard to find for sale.

What value at 98% on a 63 no dash P&R with box, tools and all paperwork.
Thanks, Bimmer

Ain't a bad price-he'll be glad he got it for that nest year. I've got one that vintage with box and I wouldn't let it go for $400. Tell him to find a set of S&W targets for it and he'll keep it forever.

I consider $400 for a 98% M63 no dash a good buy. I've been looking for one, and haven't found a nice one for that price.

For calibration purposes only - a new 5" 63 runs $766 MSRP - $569-$589 locally. A good no dash for $400 is probably quite fair by today's standards.

Odd how much 'buyer's remorse' we have as we age... I keep thinking I should have bought the 5" 63 - or 3" 317 - instead of the new 4" 617 I bought last Friday... until I pick up the 617! Of course, I have an even older friend who wonders why he buys green bananas... come to think of it, I wonder, too!

I posted a 63-1 w/box and accessories and original from the factory target grips on GunBroker for $475.00...it brought $555.00.

To me a LNIB 63 without a lock is worth more than one of the new IL guns...
