I am thinking of buying a S&W M&P 15-22. Specifically the MOE version in FDE. Here are my questions.

1) Are the FDE 25 round mags available separately?

2) How long are the threads on the barrel? Are they the correct length for use with a suppressor?

3) Anyone have a BDM drum? How do they work?

4) Are the MBUS sights the Gen 2 on the newer guns?

5) Do they take standard AR15 triggers? I would like to replace the stock trigger with a nicer one. Maybe a RRA NM 2 stage or Timney drop in.

6) Who has the best price? Buds?

Thanks for your replies. And any pics you would like to share would be great also.

1) Not the last I heard.
2)Threads are the same length as a standard AR15 (1/2x28)
3)Won't work right. The magazine and magazine catch on the 15-22 are specifically designed to work together so that the empty magazine will hold the bolt open after the last shot is fired. 3rd party magazines don't fit right in this system.
4. Not sure, when I bought mine about a year ago they were Gen 1s.
5. These will take standard AR15 triggers.
6. Don't really know about pricing, but Google is your friend.

Check this for more pictures than you can handle.

Black Dog Machine makes a M&P 15-22 drum. That's what I was referencing.

S&W/M&P15.22 50rd DRUM

I actually have an AR15 drum. Looks like I can just buy the tower swap it out.

Buds is great pricing if your local FFL doesn't rape you like ours here does

Mine charges me $10, so no raping. ;)

Someone had the same question as number 1. I believe if I'm not mistaken, they called S&W about it. They just made a sku number or whatever its called, and they weren't exactly available yet. They said they had a stock available, but not for separate purchase. They were for new guns.

I got 2 FDE mags from the site that John posted above. They arrived in a couple of days, whereas others reported that going the S&W route was more delay prone.

You need a spacer in order to use a suppressor as the threads are too long and the suppressor would bottom out, the spacer should be .200 thick x .700 diameter or so, there is a website out there that makes these .3 thick and is threaded on the inside for proper shouldering.

I am a CNC machinist so I'll just make a spacer to obtain the correct .400 thread length if I need to.

6. Cheaper Than Dirt had them for $461 before Christmas, but they are out of stock now. Shipping for me was $11. I'd keep an eye on their website. Right now they have some of the best prices on a lot of different firearms.

Brownells AlumaHyde II "Coyote" spray paint matches MagPul FDE better than my MagPul stock matches my MagPul handguards and magazines.

The grip is painted. The other parts are factory. You can paint a dozen magazines with one can of paint.

That stock looks like the color they used to dye the Magpul PTS airsoft stuff. I hope you didnt pay retail for that CTR.

Edit: a little more research proves that is Urban Dark Earth, not Flat Dark Earth... two seperate color schemes.

I think you're right on the UDE rather than as marked FDE. I got it in trade and doubt I'll paint it.

Well I picked up my 15-22 I ordered from Buds. Couple things I don't like. I got a black mag instead of a FDE mag. And I didn't get any rail covers at all. The pics on the S&W site and Buds both show them. I don't know if I should call Buds or S&W and see if I can get the problems resolved.
