Quick GFL in Georgia

My brother entered the local probate office at 8:00 am today and by 9:30 had his liscense in hand. Mine has expired.... hope to have the same luck.

Didn't the GFL applicant have to get fingerprinted and the background check done? I got my Georgia GFL in 2004, it took 3 months and it expires in 2009. This will be my first renewal, so maybe its quick after the first time. Mainly concerned for my wife who also will get hers renewed for the first time.

I am qualified under HR 218 (retired LEO), so don't really need the state GFL.....I get it anyway in case someone overturns the Federal law 926C.
 
My friend, after me coercing him to finally get a GFL, got his in Pike County in three days.

I have heard of people getting it almost immediately if they have the electronic finger print scanners.
 
Cobb county uses an electronic fingerprint scanner but it still took about 2 weeks to get my renewal (maybe there was a rush on new applications at the time).
