Quick question about M&P 9mm Value

Hey all, I'm new!

I'm no stranger to firearms (have a few rifles and a shotgun), but I don't own a handgun and I'm looking at purchasing one. Conveniently, I have two friends each selling their S&W handguns, the one is selling an M&P 9mm for 400$, it's the model 209301, and he barely used it for the two years of ownership (he uses his Glock 17 that he bought because that's what he trained with), he will not go any lower, the other is selling an SD9 VE for 300$ with a flashlight, and I'm sure I could talk him down lower.

I should mention my uses are going to be for use at the range, possible carry, and to keep in my car on occasions.

My question(s), are these good deals on these guns and is the M&P worth the extra money? I'm located in SW WI

I wouldn't say that your friend with the M&P is trying to rip you off, but personally I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a used M&P 9 as around here I can pick up a new one from a few dealers for $350-$400.

Depends on your local area though I suppose.

I paid $460 for mine right after thanksgiving. Is it a fs or compact? Are you planning on cc? I only ask because the fs is a bit big to cc. I bought a shield for me to cc. Seams like a decent price. Make sure you fire them both, if you can. I love my MP 9 fs. Getting my sheild this week.

It's the full size, forgot to mention, and I think it still might be a good CC gun for me because I'm 6'9". It's pretty small in my hands, ergonomically I don't think the compact would be an option for me, but I haven't held one so I wouldn't know!

I just put a used M&P 9 with Range and Carry kit on lay away at my lgs for $419. I thought I was getting a pretty good deal.

I'm not as tall as you, but I can conceal a fullsize M&P just fine in a Galco King Tuk. Probably doesn't work for most, but for some it's actually quite easy to conceal.

Good to know others can conceal it pretty easily! For my size, I just don't think I could go with anything else but the full size M&P

I would not be afraid of the fs 9 at $400...but that's just me. I carry my fs 9 or fs 45 all the time. I'm 6'5" so concealing the fs is easy. I do have a Shield that I carry when deep concealment is necessary.

Either one seems a fair price for what you are getting assuming good condition.
