There's a 908 with a terrible looking slide and decent looking frame available to me. I have a "spare" 6906 slide.

Can I put the 6906 slide on the 908? And yes, I know the 908 is single stack and 6906 is double stack...but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Do it. That will be a great gun. My 3913 and my 6906 (and also my 5906 for that matter) can all interchange with each other, though I have no need to do that so I have never tried to shoot them like that.

The double stack happens in the frame after all. The top of the magazine narrows to feed one round at a time, so your thinking is sound. JohnHL is one of the very best here and you can take his advice at face value!

Show us pictures when you go shoot it?

Kind Regards!

One thing to consider is the individual 3913/6906 slide’s “length”, (actually the rear contour.)

Trying to get Novak’s on my 669 marked 6906 frame I bought a complete upper. It was too long, (angle at the rear was long and hung over,) but perfect on my 3906 and 5906. I got another complete 3913/6906 upper w/Novak’s and it was too short, (angle at the rear was less and didn’t cover the frame/rails.) I had three complete uppers that were all different in “length.”

I posted here about this years ago and it was suggested that there were maybe six different “lengths”, (rear slide contours.)

It’s only a cosmetic issue but still bothered me.

Pictured for reference is my 908 with a 3913/6906 Novak sight upper on it. It’s shorter, (different rear contour,) than the 908. You can see the exposed frame and rail. This is the “longest”, (strongest rear contour,) 3913/6906 slide I have. The other two would leave even more frame/rails exposed.

I'm curious, why is that?

6906 slide and frame have front rails.

908 slide and frame DO NOT have front rails.

The railed front part of the 6906 slide will clear the un-railed dust cover of the 908 frame.

The un-railed front part of the 908 slide will NOT clear the railed dust cover of the 6906 frame.
