ok guys i got A2 upper and currently have the see thru rail that mounts into the carry handle with the scope rings mounted on that. well im not sure that i could hope that it would go back to zero by removing the whole rail from the handle and reinstalling.

so my question is this. is there a quick release mount that i can mount the rings to that will mounts to the Picatinny on the carry handle without raising it way up in the air?? have magpul ACS stock and would like to keep from putting a riser on it...

any idea's?? the GG&G mounts are 1" lift...

on a side note i was wondering if i could have the carry handle and rail milled to make a machined mated area, that would hold zero...

did find this but 250 bucks ouch!

That's what I'm talking about. I have some of the UTG LE QD rings and have been pretty impressed with 'em. They don't get me back to dead zero, but pretty darn close. I bet the ones you linked are even better.

well its worth a try! thanks... do i have to align them?

If you already have a lapping/alignment kit then by all means use it, I wouldn't go buy one or pay someone to do it though. I have 2 sets of the UTG's and I just put 'em on and sighted in, no problem. That set up will shoot <MOA at 300yds. The Leupold's are IMO of far better quality and I highly doubt there will be a problem.

I found a carrying handle that folds off to the side like I used to have on the M60 for the AR's. Looks like the thing to have if a person wants to keep a carrying handle. someone in the past was looking for a carrying handle like this but I cannot remember who. anyway it is in the catalog for cdnninvestments.com one of the last pages.

so when is it necessary to use the alignment "dies"

OK I was thinking yours was, I apologize. Some people like to keep the carrying handle or a carrying handle on theirs. My "CyberSport" already weighs enough but I am thinking about putting the folding handle on my homebuilt.

I was thinking you were talking about lapping the rings. My bad. I'm under the impression that the dies or rods are for dovetail/standard bases not weaver/picitany bases.

well they are arn't they? i just didn't know if they are needed for a rail setup...

I have never used 'em, I use an old school wood dowel when I use dovetail rings, which is rarely.
They won't serve any purpose for the rail mount cause theres nothing to align. The weaver/picatinny rings are self-aligning.

I have a couple of Leupold twist on's on Mauser 98 actions, I use a boresight to get the rings coarse aligned and then fine adjust at the range. May not be the right way but it seems to work, OP sorry about the small redirect! ;)
