I have been shopping for a Shield for a week. Can't find one except where they want to charge full MSRP or MSRP+. Ain't payin' it!

Called S&W Customer Service and discussed their production schedule. Was told they are in production and going out daily to the distributors. Distributors feed the dealers. Dealers who pay promptly get the guns first. Then they make it down the food chain from there.

Found a dealer who offered the gun at a competitive price...when they come in. So now I am on a list. I am third. Sure hope he is in good with his distributor. So I quit lookin' and start waitin'

Good luck, I can't remember when a gun was so wanted, except perhaps the LCP, which then had a recall & I of course was one, but it's gone now traded it in on the Shield.

Being 3rd on the list ain't bad. My #1 store already had 15 on their list when I put in my name.

Luckily for me, my #2 store only had 1 person on their list and he had already gotten his. 5 days later, I got a call that they had just received 2.
It won't be long and you'll get your call. :)

How's your LGS's relationship with their Distributor?

The price was $367.40 just two weeks ago at CTD. Let that be your new price goal (plus ship and FFL). Wait it out.

My deal is $395, no shipping, no FFL fee, $32 tax. FFL fee is $35 up around here. As hard to find as the Shield is, $427 OTD is not too bad. Now I am obsessing over whether to get 9mm or a 40.

I got lucky walked into a range with a gs attached went to take a look while waiting for my buddy and what do you know some poor sap didnt come to pick up his .40 shield so they had (5 min before i walked in) put it out on display it didnt take me more than a couple min to deal with the fact if i wanted it then i was going to have to pay msrp. believe me it was worth it and not having to wait 6+ months till the prices on them go down. Now i just have to wait for my 9 shield probably gonna have to pay msrp on that too but hey whats it like saving 50 or having it now. Im just an impatient person so what do you think

Just a heads up to anybody in VA looking. Virginia Arms in manassas currently has two shield 40's for $425 plus tax and $2 for the fee. If you're not local though don't bother calling, they will not ship the gun out to another FFL.

MSRP paid

While attending the Suncoast Gun show in Manatee county this weekend I was asked by a young man at a booth selling remora holsters what I paid for my shield 9 and I replied MSRP, "Hey honey" he says to his female companion "He paid MSRP for his shield." They both smirked and smiled at me. I said "Yeah, but I have one and you don't." As I smirked and smiled and walked away without buying one of their holsters.:D

I walked into my local gun shop, paid $449 plus tax and walked out with a Shield and a t-shirt. :)

I sold my 2 Kahr's for a Springfield XDs and ended up with an Olde English Bulldogge and a Shield, funny how life works sometimes.

No regrets.

Good for you. Nice retort. So you paid MSRP. So what. You saw it. You wanted it. You bought it for what the manufacturer says is a fair price. End of story. Enjoy it.;)

I think I'm going with the .40 Shield. I sent an email to StormLake inquiring about the availability of a 9mm conversion barrel for the .40 Shield, and was told they are starting a waiting list for this item. They will then contact those on the waiting list when the barrel becomes available. I have a couple firearms with both the factory .40 and .357 barrels, plus aftermarket 9mm, and they're fun to shoot with all three calibers. I usually carry the .40 version, however.

With this option I can have my 9mm and .40 in the same Shield. The only downside is having to have two sets of mags. I have three sets of mags for a SIG P239, though, so I'm used to it.;)
