Has anybody seen any of this stuff? It's kind of pricey because all the bullets are individually machined. I saw some at a show yesterday and was thinking about getting some in 9mm. I didn't buy any because I wanted to do a little research and as mentioned they are pricey. Right now they come in 380, nine, 40, and 45 ACP that I know of and they are supposed to be adding other calibers later. They contain no lead. I found a lot of info on Google but sometimes that sort of thing is a little biased and I'm curious if anybody has any experience with this ammo.

Uncertain

This ammo, like other exotic rounds before it, looks fierce but I wonder if the serrated edge of the bullet might cause feeding problems in some handguns?

I personally have no plans to buy any as I prefer the current crop of high performance ammo currently in use by major law enforcement agencies.

I'd worry about feeding problems in a semi auto, but would certainly consider them in a revolver. I'm sure the serrations are a bit of gimmick and hype. I wouldn't want to be shot by any bullet...even a .22

Looks interesting. Kinda sorta reminds me of the "pin grabber" stuff.

You'd have to run quite a bit through a bottom feeder to make sure it fed reliably, but in a revolver it should be great.

I may hesitate to use it however. Thanks to ***hat lawyers, you might find yourself having to explain on the stand why you were so malicious that you shot his clients innocent, just going back to school, choir boy son, who certainly wasn't trying to rob you that night he forced his way into your house, with ammo designed to kill people called R.I.P. ammo.

All fragmenting pistol bullets are trash. They are flashy, look good, and appeal to people by the theory of their work, but they under penetrate, the fragments usually do nothing but very minor superficial damage, and they serve no other purpose than to look cool, or give a false sense of comfort to shooters who are either uneducated in terminal ballistics, or people who know better but really are that stupid. People who buy such things are the same people who would sell the cow for magic beans instead of food to feed the family, and would probably be very interested in buying a big red bridge in San Fransisco.

Boutique ammo. What Duckford said....fragmenting is the opposite of what you want. The best bullets are the ones that retain their mass while expanding

Not looking to buy a bridge or beans, nor these rounds. You stated they under penetrate, causing "superficial" damage. I would like to read the reports of these "shootings"!! Also are you saying that they manipulated the gelatin in some way to cause them to penetrate as shown? Documentation that it was intentionally a fraud?? Be Safe,

if you go to there facebook page you will see that there is a recall on that product

I'll stick will the boring old Gold Dots and HSTs, at a 1/3 or more of the price.

RIP ammo is a remake of ammo the military designed and tested decades ago. It failed
The fragments didn’t have enough mass to do much of anything and the remaining part of the bullet had reduced penetration due to lost mass

Duckford was right. Maybe a little bit on the rough side but he’s correct

It’s always the same. It’s the Indian and not the arrow.
Train hard and choose a reliable firearm/ammo combo.
There are no magic guns, ammo or magic beans

My nephew has some. $2 a round:eek:. Anyway, he shot a gallon jug full of water. It exploded and looked cool. Multiple exit holes from the fragments. I dug the base of the bullet out of the ground, about an inch. It couldn't have weighed much more than 50 grains, looked kinda like one of those 410 disks. It was a 40. While I wouldn't want to get shot with it, I'm not a believer in these explode on contact bullets.

I would buy a box because it would go neat in my cartridge collection. That's about the only use I can see for it. In the end, bullet placement wins gun fights. Not gimmicks.

Not only would I be wary of feeding problems but I wonder how well it would penetrate if it first encountered a hard object it had to go through. In the real world we are not protecting ourselves against attacks by unobstructed ballistic gel.

If given a couple of boxes of this RIP stuff in a caliber I use... (.38/.357, .44 Special, .45ACP... Hint! Hint!), I would bewilling to extensively test it under rigorous field conditions to determine definitively just how effective it might be when used on live targets such as hogs, deer, etc. While this would not satisfy those who insist only on data from gel or SD type situations, it would show how the bullet did dealing with flesh and bone of live animals in the woods and fields. Seems that's how people figured out what rounds were or were not useful for different types of game hunting. Should work for this particular round. I've got my pistols cleaned and ready. All I need is the rounds. Maybe the good folks at RIP will see the value in this little idea. Now... got to get another mug of coffee! Sincerely. brucev.
