I'm somewhat new to revolvers of any kind. I have learned from reading other posts that the R8 is based on the 327 N frame. I have been searching for other sights since I don't like the V notch rear sight. I figured since I'm already very used to 3 dot tritium sights on all my other pistols, that's what I'll run on this too. I searched both for the R8 and TRR8 and came up short. Even looking for the 327 and I found nothing. I did find these for the N frame: http://www.meprolight.com/default.a...itemid={D7C12EAA-DE12-4334-9960-730075D4F404} Are these compatible with the R8? What other night sight options are there? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That front sight (pinned) won't work on your 327 M&P R8 as it has an interchangeable (DX) style front sight.

Other ideas? You could go with a colored fiber optic front sight & replace the V-notch rear blade with a standard S&W square notch rear blade of the same height.

SDM & Hi-Viz make DX style fiber optic front sight blades.

My TRR8 already has a square notch rear blade & I went with a .250" tall red Hi-Viz front sight.

The Model 327 M&P R8 uses the Smith and Wesson Interchangeable Front Sight (IFS) just like many other Performance Center offerings.

I used the Meprolight rear blade and a IFS Tritium on this 627 a 15 years ago. I think the front sight was done by SDM, even though it says Trijicon on it.

On my 357PD, I replaced the V-notch with the standard white outline. I left the front fiber sight alone.

Thanks for all the great replies and info. I've been looking into all this and I fit amazing that the most "tactical" pistol made doesn't have night sights or a proper retention holster.

A few more questions since you guys are more informed than me. I keep seeing all these measurements for both front and rear sights.

1. Front: seems like everyone is going with a .250 front sight. Is that the case?

2. Front: The R8 runs a IFS DX front sight?

3. Rear: I have found everything from .106, .126, .136, .140, .146. Which size is it for the R8?

4. Rear: The rear sight on the R8 is a standard N Frame rear sight or is it specific to the 327?

Thanks again.

For the front: dx interchangeable. 250. Fits N and L frames that have an interchangeable system.
For the rear, you can just replace the blade like I did. It only costs $12 from Midway USA. I chose the .160 one which I assumed was the tall blade with the deep white outline. They can be deep or shallow depending on which you order. When replacing , you will need the old plunger and spring off the old one.

Thanks for the numbers. I ended ordering the rear blade in both .160 and .146, both without the white outline. Much prefer it without. With reminds me too much in the Glock sights, which is despise. Anyone know of a how to for the swapping the IFS DX style front sight. I have only found ones for the pinned sights.

The IFS sight come out with no tools

Push the sight back toward the hammer

Then lift up the front

Then proceed in a forward motion

Put your new sight blade in using the reverse order

You can remove the front sight with your fingers (usually). You push the sight down towards the hammer and slide up. When you install-you start at a 45°. Push in. Slide down. ..
